I've been a big fan of Ronson, and have read all of his books. They are consistently quirky and entertaining.

This audio book follows the same pattern, but adds some really compelling philosophical debate on our sexuality, how quickly the internet is impacting our sexuality, and what it means for a generation of kids raised with unfettered access to the kind of explicit material that used to be hidden away in dark corners; for good and ill.

I've read a lot of books with 4+ star ratings on Audible, and without exception I've though 'yah, that is really an above average piece of literature' or 'wow, that was fantastic!'. This then results in me giving the book a rating of 4 or 5. Those many books include several of a comedic, religious and comic/religious vein, but this one is just OK.

Average of 3-3.5 stars? Sure. The current rating of 4.4? Preposterous! It makes me wonder how easily ratings can be bought, especially when the # of reviewers is only in the 100s.

So, my problem is less with the book, it is OK, but more with the feeling of unfulfilled expectations.

Buyer beware.

A good book about the man, but not his work.

I was drawn to Bennis' biography by those that credit him with being the 'father of leadership', so I was hoping for more about his work. Instead, it is an autobiography in the true sense, weaving an entertaining tail about the life experiences that drew Bennis into the study of leadership, but only a few (valuable) anecdotes on the topic.

Having heard Bennis speak before, I was originally glad for a narrator, as Bennis' delivery is very slow, but this narrator really ruined the book for me. The inflections he uses at the end of words were grating. I spent too much attention early in the book trying to figure out if the narrator had an accent I was unfamiliar with, or was trying to impart his own style. Good narrators add value to the audio book, and this one didn't do it for me.

In summary, if a sample of the narration doesn't put you off, listen for a great summary of Bennis' life, but go elsewhere if for more on his life's work.

'Open' is an appropriate title for this book!

I was apprehensive about learning the inside scoop on one of my childhood heroes. The media decided to focus on two aspects of this autobiography: his hair, and his ironic distaste for tennis.

You would do yourself a great disservice to assume that terse summary does this great autobiography any justice. In many ways this summary is indicative of the way the media has treated Agassi his whole career. In fact, this book delves inside the head of an incredibly sensitive, down-to-earth and observant world-class athlete and his struggles in tennis, but more importantly, with what is important in life.

A very gripping and enjoyable read!

I pride myself on always taking input from all sources, including those at the very extreme (say Ayn Rand and Naomi Klein as book-ends), but this 'book' is a constant rant based on hyperbole, and introduces facts only when they are convenient.

To make an argument that Chernobyl shouldn't be used by the anti-nuclear 'liberals' as an indication of the dangers of nuclear power because it only killed 4000 instead of 10,000 people is almost hilarious, if I didn't think she was serious. As a person who is pro-nuclear myself, I wouldn't touch that argument with a 10 foot pole.

This book only succeeds at three things:
1. I read this to try and better understand how the far-right thinks, it proves they do not.
2. It makes a strong case for ultra-conservatism being a form of mental illness.
3. The 'liberal religion' that runs the country is a hell of a lot better than Coulter's alternative.

This book didn't make me laugh, it only made me sad for this sort of person.
