Determination and Good Thinking Win
Revisado: 11-30-24
Liked combination of good thinking and strong will to get best outcome for herself. Recognized need to work with others, too. The narrator’s sometimes little girl voice was distracting and inappropriate for any of the females in story context.

Historia
The Minnesota State Fair wows again with 4-H exhibits, rides, a Neil Diamond concert, and deep-fried everything on a stick. Covering it is a breezy assignment as fluffy as cotton candy for reporter Mira James, until the main attraction becomes murder.

Mishap, murder, and mayhem at the county fair
Revisado: 09-07-24
Except for murder, very much like county fairs where I grew up. I like the character continuity from book to book and Variety of settings as backdrop of action in each book.
A pet peeve of mine is the mispronunciation of ethnic words, for example: mispronunciation of food item gyro. NOT jī rō, but yeer oh, when gyro is a food.

Historia
Tough-as-nails criminal defense attorney Jane Smith is hip-deep in the murder trial of the century. Actually, her charmless client might’ve committed several murders. She’s also fallen in love with a wonderful guy. And an equally wonderful dog, a mutt. But Jane doesn’t have much time. She’s just received a terminal diagnosis giving her twelve months. Unless she’s murdered before her expiration date.

5 stars all around

5 stars for tight composition, interesting characters, and believable plot. 5 stars for character voices, pacing of narration. I’ll read anything by this duo-Patterson & Lupica.

Historia
A young woman comes to Elizabeth at KWMT to solve a kind of theft Elizabeth has never encountered before. That’s challenge enough, with the TV station for sale and the top candidate to buy it known for eliminating news departments. But Elizabeth also senses there something more bothering Hailey Newhall.

Consistent Quality
Revisado: 10-23-23
Composition, characters, story line believability, and interest catching twists are top quality in each new adventure for the crew at KWMT, friends & families.
I’d prefer a less “little girl” sounding voice for Elizabeth, especially, and other females.

Historia
Beckett Rousseau is the firstborn son of one of New Orleans’ most prominent families. He’s the quintessential golden boy—great looks, money, and a political career in his future—until his wife murders him. Or at least that’s what everyone thinks. Athena Durand is still reeling from her murder conviction, but now that it’s overturned, she’s at a loss on how to proceed with her life. As long as people still believe she’s guilty, she has no future in Louisiana and more importantly, she wants to know who killed her husband.

Historia
Jack might be a polished, Harvard-educated lawyer on paper, but everyone in the down-at-the-heels, if picturesque, village of Onset, Massachusetts, knows his real job: moving people on the run from powerful enemies. The family business—co-managed with his father, a retired spy—is smooth sailing, as they fill up Onset’s holiday homes during the town’s long, drowsy off-season and help clients shed their identities in preparation for fresh starts.

Title Misleading
Revisado: 09-22-23
Good narrator. Technically well written, but no special twists to storyline. Kind of an New England coast male version of a British village spinster cottage mystery - predictable and bland.

Narration disappointing
Revisado: 07-05-23
Narration voices did not match age or sex of written characters. Story premise is possible, but audio doesn’t add dimension of reality. Just reading the book would have made it more real than listening did. As an educator, I found some of the story actions very gimmicky and unrealistic in order to provide tension. However, the biggest distraction was the narration.

Historia
After suffering a personal tragedy, Abby Sullivan buys a huge, old seaside mansion she has never even seen, packs up her life in San Francisco, and moves to Holiday Bay Maine, where she is adopted, quite against her will, by a huge Maine Coon Cat named Rufus, a drifter with her own tragic past named Georgia, and a giant dog with an inferiority complex named Ramos. What Abby thought she needed was alone time to heal. What she ended up with was, an inn she never knew she wanted, a cat she couldn't seem to convince to leave, and a new family she'd never be able to live without.

Better to read yourself
Revisado: 04-26-23
This story is somewhat engaging, if you read the text yourself. The high pitched narration voice is off-putting and the jerky, I’ll-timed inflections and grammatical pauses disrupt the flow of the story. This series catches your interest, I recommend no listening, only read it yourself.

Another compelling story in the Aaron Falk series. More connections between characters revealed. Good suspense and ah! moments. As before, locations are visible & tangible, but not to excess.
