Historia
Thrown into the Veil for a crime she committed, Delora was discarded by the world. Although afraid of her oncoming demise, she accepts it as it would be a worldly escape from her problems. She didn’t expect that she would wake up from her deadly fall, nor that the person who saved her would be a Duskwalker. She’s wary about him at first, but Delora begins to realise there’s more to him than just a faceless monster.

Touches on uncomfortable topics
Revisado: 04-16-24
so far, I am in love with the Duskwalker Brides series. if you haven't read or listened to the 1st one, A Soul to Keep, you need to before this one. The stories are amazing. Each of them touches on different topics and struggles in day-to-day life that aren't always talked about. The love stories are beautiful. The character development is fantastic. The spicy scenes are HOT! Highly recommend.
SPOILERS FOR A SOUL TO HEAL BELOW!
What really stood out to me about this particular book wasn't the taboo of the monster sex and the spicy scenes (although they are fantastic). It was the taboo topics of obesity, depression, struggles of pregnancy, and struggles of motherhood.
Obesity and depression are the big topics. There is some fat shaming in the 1st chapter and the FMC hating on herself for her body throughout the book. The FMC also really struggles with depression for various reasons. Opal does an incredible job at describing what to someone with depression, both mentally and physically. The MMC embraces the beauty of the FMC's body and presents different ways of looking at an overweight body. You go through his struggles of trying to figure out how to help the FMC with her depression.
During the pregnancy, you go through the mood swings, tiredness, hunger, fears, concerns, joys, etc of both MCs. After the baby is born, the FMC struggles with a disconnect from her baby. The fact Opal included this made me ecstatic because so many new moms feel a disconnect from their babies! But we feel like we're broken because we don't instantly get that joyous, overwhelming love when we first see our baby because nobody talks about it. I, personally, struggled with that feeling for the first month or so after having my baby. The subject isn't talked about for long. But the fact it is represented at all is incredible. While the FMC is struggling with her disconnect, you get a little of what the MMC is struggling with, having to act as the only parent. Once the FMC is able to accept her baby, you move onto the typical struggles of parenting. The growing pains, protectivness, worries, the heart ache of them leaving home and needing to be able to let go so they can live their own life.
It is beautifully done. 10/10

Historia
As the future pack leader of the Silver Wolves, my life was carefully planned: stay hidden and learn to fight. In an instant, everything changes. My pack was slaughtered by an unknown enemy. Alone and unsure who to trust, I search for safety. Now, there's a pack leader who offers me something that no one else can—protection. He’s sexy, an absolute jerk, and my fated mate. The more I try to fight our bond, the more fate pushes us together. But the price may be too much for both of us. I’m being hunted, and the choices I'm forced to make could destroy me.

annoying narrator
Revisado: 03-04-24
I just started this so I can't say anything on the story, yet. I plan to update this later. BUT the narrator's voice is making me insane. I can tolerate it when she voices female characters but the voice for males is like nails on a chalk board. I really want to finish the story but I don't know if I can.

Historia
Wolf shifters are real. And, three alphas have claimed me as their mate. For years, I've been kept prisoner by my uncle, hidden like a piece of trash in the basement of his house - beaten, broken, and neglected, hated by him for reasons I can't even understand. But, one night on the back roads of rural Montana, I see a chance for escape. And, I take it. I run...straight into the arms of a naked man. No. Not a man. A wolf. Ridge, the man with dark hair and honey-colored eyes, is the alpha of the North Pack.

Slow but Good
Revisado: 12-15-23
I listened to this and other series in hopes of breaking through my writer's block with my own book. While it didn't help, I did enjoy the story and hearing something just a tad different than the average werewolf romance stories.
The mating and shifting processes were a little different. The storyline is slow but I didn't mind. It was a nice break from the usual drama filled stories. The steamy scenes were good but left me a little unsatisfied, as time went on. I feel like there were several missed opportunities to really kick up the spice.
I liked that the villan stayed the same throughout the series. There are a lot of reviews saying they didn't like Trystan's voice but I loved it. I thought it fit the character.
I would listen again.
