Historia
Eden was always good at being good. Starting high school didn’t change who she was. But the night her brother’s best friend rapes her, Eden’s world capsizes. What was once simple, is now complex. What Eden once loved—who she once loved—she now hates. What she thought she knew to be true, is now lies. Nothing makes sense anymore, and she knows she’s supposed to tell someone what happened but she can’t. So she buries it instead. And she buries the way she used to be.

Hold on, pain ends. Moral of the story, that doesn’t show up until the very very end. I agree with others in that due to the emotional content of the book, some parts are more difficult than others to get through. But it was such an amazing book. Extremely well written, and can give anyone proper insight into what it’s like to go through trauma, and the way it rewires your brain. Over the course of 4 years, you watch a girl break, stay broken for a long time, and then finally begin to heal. The ending is all I could ever ask for. It may not be based on a true story, but it might as well be. It’s just as real. And once again, just such an amazing book. It made me feel every emotion I think I could have. And I learned things I may not have ever known otherwise about the ways trauma manifests itself in some people. I think everyone should read this. The world would be a very different place.

Historia
To five-year-old Jack, Room is the entire world. It is where he was born and grew up; it's where he lives with his Ma as they learn and read and eat and sleep and play. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits. Room is home to Jack, but to Ma, it is the prison where Old Nick has held her captive for seven years. Through determination, ingenuity, and fierce motherly love, Ma has created a life for Jack. But she knows it's not enough...not for her or for him.

Dark But Beautiful
Revisado: 01-14-19
It was a little difficult in the very beginning to get used to the voice of Jack, but that quickly passed and overall I think it made listening to the book rather than reading it that much more amazing. Hearing a little boy telling his story rather than reading the sometimes not great grammar and other things - you’re just able to understand Jack more. And I think it made the constant dialogue flow a lot easier and more naturally listening rather than reading.
But as for the book itself, holy sh*t. It was so heavy, but so necessary, and in the end so beautiful. Some parts were very overwhelming and I felt like I just needed to stop to take a break and cry in bed, but I guess that’s a good thing considering it was able to get right in my feelings and hit where it hurt. I loved it, and when I wasn’t listening found myself thinking about the book, the characters, and the things that were going on in it wherever I left off. It’s a very well written story. Uncomfortable at times, but that’s what makes it all the more accurate. I highly recommend you listen to it and watch the movie.

The Most Amazing Thing I've Ever Read.
Revisado: 05-21-15
Joey, I'm so proud of you. There is something in this book everyone can relate to. Whether it's trying to become comfortable with who you are, dealing with bullies, a rough situation at home, dreams you may think are too big- they're not. This book is everything I expected it to be and more, I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone I cross paths with in this world. It's everything. I read it 10pm on the release date - 12am the following day, then 6pm that day - 11pm that day. Then… it was finished. The most awe- inspiring and amazing thing I've ever read. I love you Joey. <3
