Historia
In Harvest of Gold, the scribe Sarah married Darius, and at times, she feels as if she has married the Persian aristocracy, too. There is another point she did not count on in her marriage—Sarah has grown to love her husband. Sarah has wealth, property, honor, and power, but her husband’s love still seems unattainable. Although his mother was an Israelite, Darius remains skeptical that his Jewish wife is the right choice for him, particularly when she conspires with her cousin Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

What Happened to Laural Merlington??!!
Revisado: 12-04-22
This remains one of my favorite stories. I have listened to it and Harvest of Rubies a thousand times and have loved every moment of it. However, this narrator was horrible in comparison to Laural Merlington. I don't know what happen to cause the change, but Laural brought the story and characters alive. She made it funny and interesting. I was very disappointed listening to this version and likely won't listen again. Tessa, PLEASE don't change the narrator for Harvest of Rubies! It would be tragic!

POWERFUL!!
Revisado: 06-19-22
I often rate the audiobooks I've listened to, but seldom write narrative. However, this time I am compelled to do so. I am a huge fan of Ms. White, but she has outdone herself with this series. In this book (which is better than the first), she reminds us of the constant war Christians face everyday. That angels and demons are as real as you and I, and both have the power to constantly influence our daily decisions. That those decisions have immediate and often, far-reaching consequences. But that if we are in tune with the Holy Spirit and take heed to what we hear, God will always guide us and direct us. All things will work out for our good. Finally, she reminds us of the power we wield in prayer and the importance of seeking Him constantly, as he lends His heavenly hosts to protect us, keep us safe and to do His bidding on our behalf. Thank you, Ms. White for this powerful piece of work that encouraged and blessed my soul. I look forward to hearing more about Zipporah and Samuel as they spread the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!!

Good Read, But...
Revisado: 07-12-21
I enjoyed this story very much. I loved the way Solomons builds each character and brings them to life. As much as I enjoyed it, I did feel that Mr. Rivers was a bit short-changed. He spoke of having more children and an heir. He ended up with neither at the end and that seemed like a cruelty for such a kind and giving man. Children would have also provided Elise a legacy. The reuniting of the sisters... the Vienna scene.... It all felt rushed. We don't even know how old Elise and Daniel were at the end. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the rushed ending.

A Real Page Turner!
Revisado: 08-23-20
The plot was fresh and the characters were rich! I loved that the lead character was such a strong, confident women with real faults, but a huge heart. In the end, she was led by her heart's desire to Christ. This is an excellent example of the importance of witnessing about the goodness and redeeming power of Jesus, no matter how flawed you think you are.

Awful
Revisado: 10-23-18
I rarely give books a 1, but this was I cannot help. The storyline was very weak and had no substance at all. Additionally, too many loose ends were left at the end. Perhaps it would not have mattered as much had the performance of the narrator been better. The dull, monotone voice was horrible and I barely made it through to the end. His intonation was faulty and his pausing for emphasis inappropriately was extremely distracting. Had I been able to give this a 0, I would have. Sorry Ray, but you should consider another hobby.

Very Disappointing
Revisado: 07-01-17
The storyline was weak and neither the writing nor characters had any depth. Also, I expected the book to center on God and the relationship between Him and the characters. While there was much mention of the old Jewish Laws, there was no mention of the law and its relevance to God. Finally, listening to the narrator was brutal. Her inflections and intonations were horribly distracting. I have never written a poor review on Audiobook, so this must have been really bad for me to do so. Perhaps the author should take a few lessons from Tessa Afshar. I do, however, admire anyone who puts pen to paper and produces a novel. Ms. Boyd is no exception.
