Historia
In April 1970, during the glory days of the Apollo space program, NASA sent Navy Captain Jim Lovell and two other astronauts on America's fifth mission to the moon. Only 55 hours into the flight of Apollo 13, disaster struck: a mysterious explosion rocked the ship, and soon its oxygen and power began draining away. Written with all the color and drama of the best fiction, Apollo 13 (previously published as Lost Moon) tells the full story of the moon shot that almost ended in catastrophe.

entertaining education. I felt as if I were in that capsule, or in mission control, or in Lovells living room.

Historia
On a frigid April night in 1912, the world’s largest—and soon most famous—ocean liner struck an iceberg and slipped beneath the waves. She had scarcely disappeared before her new journey began, a seemingly limitless odyssey through the world’s fixation with her every tragic detail. Plans to find and raise the Titanic began almost immediately. Yet seven decades passed before it was found. Why? And of some three million shipwrecks that litter the ocean floor, why is the world still so fascinated with this one?

20 books and this one is top 3
Revisado: 09-27-23
I completely disagree with a poor review I just read. I have listened to close to 30 Titanic, submarine, treasure hunting, WWII and ocean related titles. This book and its narration is in my top 3 most enjoyable and informative.

Historia
Two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize David McCullough tells the dramatic story behind the story about the courageous brothers who taught the world how to fly: Wilbur and Orville Wright.
On December 17, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, Wilbur and Orville Wright's Wright Flyer became the first powered, heavier-than-air machine to achieve controlled, sustained flight with a pilot aboard. The Age of Flight had begun. How did they do it? And why?

Historia
For 18 years, Ed Viesturs pursued climbing's holy grail: to stand atop the world's 14 8,000-meter peaks, without the aid of bottled oxygen. But No Shortcuts to the Top is as much about the man who would become the first American to achieve that goal as it is about his stunning quest. As Viesturs recounts the stories of his most harrowing climbs, he reveals a man torn between the flat, safe world he and his loved ones share and the majestic and deadly places where only he can go.

exceptional detail. one major hang up.
Revisado: 07-16-22
Throughout the whole book I started to actually dislike Ed. Never met the man and who am I? I think it had alot to do with the narration. Much of the book is just him bragging about how wonderful he is. It started to be a running joke whenever we'd listen to it. Does this guy have a broken arm from patting himself on the back? We already appreciate you, we bought the book. If you are into climbing or want to learn about it I recommend it. Just go in with a sense of humor.
