overload of detail, no story
Revisado: 09-14-24
Wish I could return. Stopping halfway through chapter 2. Lots and lots of detailed description, which is all interesting, but there is really no narrative or sense of mystery or suspense to propel the reader forward.

Historia
Joe Leaphorn may be long retired from the Navajo Tribal Police, but his detective skills are still sharp, honed by his work as a private detective. His experience will be essential to solve a compelling new case: finding the birth parents of a woman who was raised by a bilagáana family but believes she is Diné based on one solid clue, an old photograph with a classic Navajo child’s blanket.

Best Anne Hillerman yet
Revisado: 08-09-24
Huge Tony Hillerman fan. So glad Anne is carrying the characters forward with her own twists & details. This one was her best yet. Fast, followable, enough plot twists & surprises that it didn’t feel predictable.

Gratitude from a white evangelical
Revisado: 01-13-24
Thank you Michelle Obama for lending your time and abilities to this book project so that we can share in your lessons, experience, your wisdom and your open heart. Your words, your actions and convictions, your plans, your responsible use of power, your strength and willingness to grow, I believe, further God’s vision of hope for humanity. May more American Christians recognize and embody these values as you have done.

Historia
An unexpected death on a lonely road outside of Utah’s Bears Ears National Park raises questions for Navajo Tribal Police officers Jim Chee and Bernadette Manuelito. Why would a seasoned outdoorsman and well-known paleontologist freeze to death within walking distance of his car? A second death brings more turmoil. Who is the unidentified man killed during a home invasion where nothing seems to have been taken? Why was he murdered? An illicit business, a fossilized jaw bone, hints of witchcraft, and a mysterious disappearance during a blizzard add to the peril.

I liked this one
Revisado: 11-04-23
i found this one easier to follow than the first 2-3 anne Hillerman books. Characters WERE developed. They changed in unexpected ways. The editing of the audio was definitely rough.

Historia
In 18th-century London, porcelain is the most seductive of commodities; fortunes are made and lost upon it. Kings do battle with knights and knaves for possession of the finest pieces and the secrets of their manufacture. For Genevieve Planché, an English-born descendant of Huguenot refugees, porcelain holds far less allure; she wants to be an artist, a painter of international repute, but nobody takes the idea of a female artist seriously in London. If only she could reach Venice.

Transports you to another time & place
Revisado: 02-19-23
The author’s historical detail envelops the listener in the sights, smells, landscapes, and of course color, of 18th century England and France. I enjoyed the plot twists and learning about the Huguenots and porcelain making. The reader’s diction was very clear even at a high speed.
