Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Historia
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.

I started this book, thinking it was about beekeeping. It was so much more. I loved that it challenged our assumptions about assumptions—the way we quickly assess and think we know people. But do we?

Voice actors really brought the story to life. The dialogue was fresh and believable. I quickly became involved in the characters and loved them

Historia
Being an empath can be very difficult; you can feel anxious and fearful of being with certain people or large groups of people. In addition to being destroyed by the emotions of others, you have no idea what feelings are yours and what are the ones you are collecting from others, the situation can be quite complex. Unlike most people, it is normal for an empath to feel the emotions of others excessively. This makes them more sensitive, tolerant, and understanding than other people. However, if this power is mismanaged, it can explode and completely invade your life.

Not worth it

So much repetition and redundancy! A great topic but it dragged on with so little information per minute. Highly can’t recommend

I wanted to love this
Revisado: 10-29-21
I wanted to love this but couldn’t. I found the main character self-absorbed and annoying . I hung with it because it was highly recommended by a friend.
There was some interesting history and
Perspective but ultimately not worth it for me

More than a thriller

I am not usually a fan of thrillers but this book kept me entertained, in large part due to the narrator’s gift for dialogue. A dark but engaging tale

Couldn’t Finish
Revisado: 04-04-21
This is a well written story, beautifully told, but I can’t finish it. There’s no glimmer of hope for the characters. Things just go from bad to worse. Perhaps in happier times I could complete the book but it was simply too tragic for me.

Historia
A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. He is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock. Forty years earlier, a man committed suicide in a stolen car at this farm at the end of the road. Like a fuse on a firework, his death lit a touchpaper and resonated in unimaginable ways. The darkness was unleashed, something scary and thoroughly incomprehensible to a little boy. And Lettie - magical, comforting, wise beyond her years - promised to protect him, no matter what.
