Historia
A tale of terrorism, espionage, and an epic struggle for justice in an America on the verge, sparked by a massive and mysterious explosion in New York Harbor in 1916.
That year, while the Allied and Central forces waged war in Europe, a group of German saboteurs blew up Black Tom Island, a spit of land in New York Harbor within earshot of downtown Manhattan. The subsequent hail of missiles and gunpowder devastated much of lower New York City.

Engaging Story in a Make Believe Fatherland
Revisado: 10-21-10
The touch of a "possible" historical background of Hitler winning WWII adds a new twist to this adventure. The characters are believable in Harris's style, and the narrator does a very good job. Just a fun mystery with some not so fun twists superimposed by Hitler's influences on Germany.

Well researched and told
Revisado: 04-06-10
I found the story well researched and told by Joseph Ellis. I was almost disappointed when it ended. The narrator, Nelson Runger, has a pleasant voice and appropriate energy. His swallowing is a disappointing distraction and one that should have been prevented. I enjoyed the book and the narration, just not the recording

Captivating
Revisado: 12-14-09
Listening to Robert Cornuk's "The Bell Messenger" while driving to and from the office each day was a great way to start and end my day. The weaving of the story through several periods of history was well thought-out and engaging. The story ended all too quickly. The narrator, Henry Strozier brought the words to life. My only constructive criticism would be to more carefully record some of the readings as listening to Mr. Stozier breath and swallow can be distracting. Overall - an enjoyable tale.
