Historia
In July 2004, Barack Obama electrified the Democratic National Convention with an address that spoke to Americans across the political spectrum. Now, in The Audacity of Hope, Senator Obama calls for a different brand of politics: a politics for those weary of bitter partisanship and alienated by the "endless clash of armies" we see in Congress and on the campaign trail; a politics rooted in the faith, inclusiveness, and nobility of spirit at the heart of "our improbable experiment in democracy".

Good read!
Revisado: 04-25-25
"The Audacity of Hope" is a truly illuminating read. It's refreshing to gain such a clear sense of Former President Obama's thoughtful perspectives on a range of critical issues facing our nation. Beyond the policy discussions, the book offers a valuable glimpse into how his burgeoning career and eventual presidency shaped his personal life, the challenges faced, and the values that guided him. A truly worthwhile and inspiring book!

What Did I Just Read?!?
Revisado: 04-07-25
This book took 'suspension of disbelief' and threw it out the window, diving headfirst into the realm of the utterly bizarre. It's the kind of thing I might have loved in my early twenties, but now it just makes me cringe. I had to finish it, like watching a car crash in slow motion, just to see how far off the rails it could go. Needless to say, I won't be subjecting myself to the rest of the series, which apparently gets even more outlandish.

Good series!
Revisado: 03-16-25
"A Sky Beyond the Storm," the final installment in Sabaa Tahir's Ember Quartet, is a whirlwind of emotions, a brutal and beautiful conclusion that leaves you breathless. Tahir masterfully weaves together the threads of her intricate world, delivering a story that is both epic in scope and deeply personal. We follow Laia, Elias, Helene, and the Nightbringer as they grapple with impossible choices, devastating losses, and the ever-present threat of a world consumed by chaos.
Tahir's writing remains as powerful and evocative as ever, painting vivid landscapes of both the physical world and the characters' inner turmoil. The pacing is relentless, propelling you forward through heart-stopping battles and tender moments of connection. The characters, who have grown so much throughout the series, are pushed to their limits, their resilience tested in ways that will leave you reeling. Helene's unwavering loyalty, Elias's struggle with his past, and Laia's fierce determination are all explored with a depth and sensitivity that makes them feel incredibly real.
However, it's the unexpected ending that truly sets "A Sky Beyond the Storm" apart. While Tahir provides a satisfying resolution to many of the series' central conflicts, she also takes bold risks that challenge reader expectations. The final choices made by the characters, particularly regarding the Nightbringer, are complex and morally ambiguous, sparking debate and forcing you to confront the true cost of peace. It's an ending that lingers, provoking thought and leaving a lasting impression. Some readers may find it divisive, but it's undeniably powerful and fitting for a series that has consistently defied genre conventions.
Ultimately, "A Sky Beyond the Storm" is a fitting and memorable conclusion to a remarkable series. It's a testament to Sabaa Tahir's talent for crafting compelling characters, intricate plots, and a world that feels both fantastical and deeply human. Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster and an ending that will stay with you long after you turn the final page.

Good story….
Revisado: 02-07-24
A great science fiction, dystopian story about how good intentions can be used for evil. Loved the story, but would’ve liked to know more of what happened after Sam broadcast her story. Was Telos exposed for all to know? What happened to Sam’s cell; were they captured and killed or did they live on to see their vision through? What happened to Lucy and Algebra? I have questions that need answers! lol
