Loved everything from start to finish!
Revisado: 03-03-24
Audiobook novel starts could get soooo slow, but god this book got me hooked RIGHT at the start, my dudes. Absolutely enjoyed and loved it from start to finish. The characters felt so well fleshed out, and the progression of their relationship felt so natural. I personally would have fallen head over heels in love with Aurora myself, tbh. Also! Not important but I'll admit I was a little hesitant to start this because I thought the title was cheesy. It made me think of those badly written dime-a-dozen romance books in bargain bins. This book was anything but! I still think it's cheesy as hell, but that won't stop me from loving this work.

Historia
1333. Edward III is at war with Scotland. Nineteen-year-old Sir Harry de Lyon yearns to prove himself and jumps at the chance when a powerful English baron, William Montagu, invites him on a secret mission with a dozen elite knights. They ride north, to a crumbling Scottish keep, capturing a feral, half-starved boy within and putting the other inhabitants to the sword. But nobody knows why the flower of English knighthood snuck over the border to capture a savage, dirty teenage boy. Montagu gives the boy to Harry as his squire, with only two rules.

pretty good way to pass the time
Revisado: 02-14-24
not one of my favorites, but enjoyed it nonetheless and don't regret purchasing it. interesting premise, the pacing was a little fast for the "falling in love" part for me. a little predictable, a little trope-y, with very convenient characters but still pretty good. pacing slows down a bit near the end, i like the narration. for some reason, harry's image in my mind is straight up laios from dungeon meshi. hmm. i give it a solid 7 out of 10.

Historia
Calder has been declared Imperial Steward, the official successor to the Emperor. He leads the Empire from the throne, just as he has always wanted. In their tombs, the Great Elders stir. The crack in the sky becomes more alarming by the day, so Calder and his loyal Imperialist Guilds seek a truce with their Independent opponents. Both sides know the Elders are the true enemy, but that does not make peace easy. Blood has been spilled already, trust is hard to come by, and the Guild Heads under Calder see him as little more than a figurehead.

Excellent Finisher
Revisado: 01-13-22
I've been listening to both Sea and Shadow series one after the other, but hands down, I like Sea better because the characters are just better and more loveable for me. Of Kings and Killers was an excellent finisher to the series, though I would have loved more content about the side characters, especially the crew. Looking forward to more from Will Wight!

A good light read
Revisado: 12-23-21
It's a good counterpart to Of Sea and Shadow, fills in a lot of gaps. But I just find the main protag's love interest weirdly...forced, given her characterization. A bit disappointing thing, but good thing it didn't focus on that too much.

The ancient land of Eirinn is mired in war. Ciara, princess of Mide, has never known a time when Eirinn's kingdoms were not battling for power or Northmen were not plundering their shores. The people of Mide have always been safe because of Ciara's unearthly ability to control her enemies' minds and actions. But lately a mysterious crow has been appearing to Ciara, whispering warnings of an even darker threat. Although her clansmen dismiss her visions as pagan nonsense, Ciara fears this coming evil will destroy not just Eirinn but the entire world.

Necromancy but with Love
Revisado: 11-05-21
I absolutely loved it. It's so well-written, and although some people dislike the non-linear narrative, I found it ties really nicely at the end. Loveable characters with a satisfying ending.
Performance was so-so, especially since the pronunciations and accents weren't consistent with (1) the previous books and (2) the male and female narrators. It takes getting used to.
Loved it nonetheless!

Necromancy and Excellent World Building
Revisado: 11-01-21
I love me a great world building, and I love me some necromancy. Put them together and we have The Bone Witch. Interesting characters abound. My only issue is the first time I heard the lady narrator's shaky voice, I was impressed. But when it came often and frequent, it quickly became annoying, but tolerable (not that I have a choice :((()

Historia
For six years Jim and Jamie Dutcher lived intimately with a pack of wolves, gaining their trust as no one has before. In this book the Dutchers reflect on the virtues they observed in wolf society and behavior. Each chapter exemplifies a principle, such as kindness, teamwork, playfulness, respect, curiosity, and compassion. Their heartfelt stories combine into a thought-provoking meditation on the values shared between the human and the animal world.

Insightful, Compelling with a bit of Heartbreaking
Revisado: 10-28-21
I expected an insightful look at how wolves lived amongst themselves and how their societal dynamics worked, and I was not disappointed. What I didn't expect was to be reminded of how absolutely cruel humans can be--especially the most ignorant ones.
Coming from someone who works with animals, it's a beautiful piece of work, and I can only wish more people would take the time to listen to it.
