Historia
For fans of the oral history genre phenomenon World War Z, a worldwide plague of insomnia creates a devastating new apocalypse. Sleep Over is collection of waking nightmares, a scrapbook of the haunting and poignant stories from those trapped in a world where the pillars of society are crumbling, and madness is slowly descending on a planet without rest.

Great start, goes off the rails hard.

Decent premise. Good buildup. Utterly fails to stick the landing. "Gamers rise up" is a genuinely baffling choice for an ending

Historia
A magical serial killer is on the loose, and gelatinous, otherworldly creatures are infesting the English countryside. Which is making life for the Ministry of Occultism difficult, because magic is supposed to be their best kept secret. After centuries in the shadows, the Ministry is forced to unmask, exposing the country's magical history - and magical citizens - to a brave new world of social media, government scrutiny, and public relations.

Good execution with one major foible.
Revisado: 08-13-23
Good: The storytelling is fun, most of the humor lands perfectly, and Yahtzee is a phenomenal narrator. Diablerie manages to strike a decent balance of immensely annoying, incredibly amusing, and genuinely intriguing.
Iffy: While it's not intentionally mean-spirited, a lot of the attempts at political satire feel a bit too much like my dad complaining about political correctness.
Somewhere in between: The concept feels a little too close to the Laundry Files for comfort. "British occult agents" is well-trod ground, I suppose, but it feels like Stross could have written this. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I hope Existentially Challenged goes off on in a new direction.
Absolutely recommended if you like Yahtzee's other works, generally recommended if you don't know him and have a spare credit kicking around.

Historia
In this smart and funny book, celebrated cartoonist Zach Weinersmith and noted researcher Dr. Kelly Weinersmith give us a snapshot of what's coming next - from robot swarms to nuclear fusion powered-toasters. By weaving their own research and interviews with the scientists who are making these advances happen, the Weinersmiths investigate why these technologies are needed, how they would work, and what is standing in their way.

Thoughtful pop science

The Weinersmiths researched their topics well and considered the consequences, while still making it funny.
