Middle-book syndrome
Revisado: 07-15-20
I loved the Characters but too much of this felt like a middle book in a series with barely any action happening. In comparison to the other books by Charles I felt like this lacked pacing and plot. I am hoping the conclusion to the series will balance the series out for me.

The book every kid that loves myths wants to write
Revisado: 04-13-20
I think the narrator did and exceptional job of not letting the female voices or the intense descriptions become overwhelming.
Looking forward to book 2!

Historia
Young Rhea is a miller's daughter of low birth, so she is understandably surprised when a mysterious nobleman, Lord Crevan, shows up on her doorstep and proposes marriage. Since commoners don't turn down lords - no matter how sinister they may seem - Rhea is forced to agree to the engagement. Lord Crevan demands that Rhea visit his remote manor before their wedding.

Such fun!
Revisado: 03-23-20
I think T. Kingfisher is wildly unappreciated. Her humour and writinf are both consistently excellent!
I love her characters, all of which are memorable and tangible.
I'm not sure I am ready for the scary books, but at least I have a decent backlist to go through.

Historia
Zachary Ezra Rawlins is a graduate student in Vermont when he discovers a strange book hidden in the library stacks. As he turns the pages, entranced by tales of lovelorn prisoners, key collectors, and nameless acolytes, he reads something strange: a story from his own childhood. Bewildered by this inexplicable book and desperate to make sense of how his own life came to be recorded, Zachary uncovers a series of clues that lead him to a masquerade party in New York, to a secret club, and through a doorway to a subterranean library, hidden far below the surface of the earth.

Poor choice on my part
Revisado: 03-20-20
Some stories are meant for you and some are not. This book was not for me. I had to actively push through this narrative and it almost put me into a reading slump 3 times. I can appreciate this beauty and its honouring of stories. But I think I need to walk way from Morgenstern and keep walking.

A fun revising of the narrative
Revisado: 01-13-20
I was surprised by how sensual this version of the narrative is. But still very enjoyable. I think this does justice to the original narrative.
