Among the best Star Wars books ever.
Revisado: 05-19-20
This book stands not only as one of the best star wars books ever written, but as one of the best star wars audio books! The performance alone is worth the price or monthly credit. This book sheds so much light on episodes 1-3 and tells the story of Darth Plageuous as well as the origin story of Darth Sidious. The only down side to this book is that it for some unknown reason didn't make the cut into Disney canon.

What a book.
Revisado: 11-13-19
I've seen a number of comments in this review thread complaining that this isn't like the old rogue squadron books, that this book is hard to follow and that it's not very good with some even comparing it to the first Aftermath book. I pose a question to those who commented such things: What about the title of this book made you expect a rogue squadron book? is it the use of the word "Squadron"? did you even attempt to listen to this book, or did you just put it on as background noise? Did you even read the Aftermath trilogy?
this is an awesome book. It made me root for the characters. I experienced sadness, disgust, anger, uncertainty, and a feeling of redemption. The book is very easy to follow if you have half a brain. The characters are all different enough in their mannerisms and speech cadence that they're easy to differentiate. The pace of the book is well done and the voice actor is great. The ambience also deserves a nod, introducing new music to the star wars world besides the typical John William's score and cantina song.
The book has a surprising return of a beloved character, mentions the exploits of the main characters of the star wars movies and let's you experience the war from the eyes of basic foot soldiers to pilots to Intel agents. It also introduces some new myths, a view of the jedi from people who have never seen or experienced them and the experiences of an imperial defector as she seeks redemption and a new home.
Of course, there are some issues with this book as nothing is perfect, regardless of the romanticized legends lore. As with every disney book now, gay characters are ham fisted into the book, mentioned for literally no other reason than to attempt diversity and inclusion. I feel like it can be insulting to real gays, as it's done more out of an effort to have a "token" gay character than to actually flesh out a characters back story. It really takes me out of the immersion. I can immediately think of a gay character that was done horribly at first, but grew into one of my favourite characters of all time (sinjir rath velus from aftermath). I'm not sure if it's a "quota" of sorts handed down from Disney to the Authors of the new canon, but I really wish they took more time to flesh these characters out.
overall I think this book is worth getting. It's an awesome listen, the story is done well for the most part and the voice actor does a great job.
