Historia
Jim and his literal shoulder demon have survived, so far, by the skin of their teeth. After finding a long-abandoned starter village, Jim has begun the process of rebuilding his town. Unfortunately for our favorite adventurer, the threats he now faces are far more complicated than mere monsters. The poor Noob has to deal with angry townsfolk, trade negotiations, and a talking badger. With goblins and bandits also sniffing around, will Noobtown - I mean Windfall - survive?

Historia
After dying and being reborn into a world that's built like a video game, Jim has found himself stuck in a very old-world style new-player zone for low-level adventurers. Unfortunately, the zone fell out of use centuries ago, and no one told the monsters they were supposed to take it easy on the Noobs. Even worse, the only new player around is Jim. Jim has been given an opportunity, and he'll do his best to take advantage of it.

Great 1st book in a series, wow!
Revisado: 03-09-25
I wasn't sure how I would like this book when it first started but I quickly got sucked in to the storyline. I really can't wait to start book 2 to see how the relationship between Jim and Shart develop. I love their back and forth! I highly recommend this title and I hope the rest of the series is just like this.

Amazing series
Revisado: 02-17-25
The worst thing about this book is that I have to wait for the next book!!! Every book so far has been batter than the last. Watching the group advance and mature is been great character development. I really hope Apollos Thorne keeps this series going for the next few years as it's excellent. I'm really looking forward to what comes next.

They keep getting better!
Revisado: 08-30-24
Knowing that book 12 will not be out for a bit, I dragged out listening to this book. Which was painful as this book was excellent! The goodbye scene happened at the same time I got dust in my eyes. Everything about this book is perfect. Once again, you will find yourself laughing out loud so many times because of the great writing. If you're a fan of the series, this book might be the best so far. Like the others, I'm going to have to go back and listen to this a second time to catch all the humor, sub plots and hidden story lines. Great, great book!!!!!!!

Horrible Series
Revisado: 08-30-23
I purchased the first 7 books on sale thinking this would be a good series and I was wrong. These books are laden with homophobic, sexist, racist, and masterbutory comments. While I understand the characters are from Mississippi, there is no joke here, it's just goes over the line...constantly. The overall concept of the story is excellent but the execution is horrible. The author writes like a 14 year old boy. Character development might be the worst thing of this series next to the racism. None of the characters have any redeeming value, you honestly don't like any of them. You can connect with them because they're just a bunch of morons which removes any vision of realism. Tim is a drunken ass how treats everyone like garbage, Cooper, Julian, Tony the Elf, Frank, Cat, Stacy... well, no need to name them all, they're horrible.
There is no escape for this series. You can not lose yourself because you keep getting annoyed by the piss poor writing and crappy characters. I paid for these books so I decided to listen to all of them, hoping they would get better... but they don't. They actually get worse over time.

Tim and his friends find out the hard way that you shouldn't question the game master, and you shouldn't make fun of his cape. One minute, they're drinking away the dreariness of their lives, escaping into a fantasy game and laughing their asses off. The next minute, they're in a horse-drawn cart surrounded by soldiers pointing crossbows at them.

Good idea - Poor execution
Revisado: 08-02-23
The overall premise to the story is really good but the characters are just morons, A bit racist, and anti-Semitic (Cat). I'd give the book a 5 star rating if everyone wasn't such a idiot. Tim seems to be more intelligent than the rest but one would think if someone trapped you in an alternate universe, you would stop calling them names and maybe try to be nice to them. I'm going to continue to book 2 in the hopes of it getting better as I want to like this book but the characters are horrible.
Edit: It never gets better

Historia
From his breakout role in Die Hard to his outstanding, multifaceted performances in the Harry Potter films, Galaxy Quest, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and more, Alan Rickman cemented his legacy as a world-class actor. His air of dignity, his sonorous voice, and the knowing wit he brought to each role continue to captivate audiences today. But Rickman’s ability to breathe life into projects wasn't confined to just his performances.

Great man...boring diary
Revisado: 03-09-23
Like most people, I loved Alan Rickman. Everything about him was top shelf. His diary though, is very drab. Some of the entries started off interesting but there is no context or follow on story. Just a lot of "First day of X" or met with person X. Lots of took plane to country x or city x, It is a glimpse in to his life but it would have been better if there was some content.
The forward by Emma Thompson is endearing and probably the best part of the book.
I wanted to really like this but it was boring and hard to listen to. I couldn't even finish it.
