Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

An excellent follow up to a first part.

This was a great listen. I have seen reviews of the dramatic reading of Part 1 of Fourth Wing. The points made in the constructive reviews and some of the blunt ones are points that I will not dispute. Perhaps characters have voices that may not fit them, but that is up for discussion and is subjective to the listener. I enjoyed the performances given and how each voice actor puts passion into their performance. This was a satisfying ending to a first book and I look forward to the release of Iron Flame. Here’s hoping they don’t hold out on us by releasing the parts months apart, haha.

With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success.

Captivating story and immersive performance.

This novel is so compelling and the casting and production are phenomenal. I enjoy the range of characters who we grow to love, hate, root for, and root against. Violet is a compelling protagonist and her narration is wonderful. I enjoy the voices of the audio drama, lending all the characters of this novel voice and personality beyond the written words. It is a shame that the second part of the novel has not been released yet. I can only hope the production of the second novel following this one will come out.

Wonderful returning to this series, and wonderful to listen to it read
Revisado: 10-13-23
Netflix or an independent studio have got to pick up this series.
I adore this series and am so happy to have found the books here on Audible. David Pittu reads these books well, even if I only heard him reading a sample of Vespers Rising and all of this book. He puts such a good performance into all the characters, getting their accents and personalities in his narration. Lovely, so, so lovely.

Historia
In Meetings with Moths ecologist Katty Baird roams Scotland seeking out, documenting and observing moths. Green Longhorns, Pimpinel Pugs and Peacock Moths are just some of the species that catch her attention as she climbs into holes, ventures behind waterfalls and wanders forests with her boundless curiosity. But you needn’t travel far and wide to see beautiful moths. Katty shows that you can easily enjoy discovering moths and caterpillars without specialist knowledge by creating your own light trap or simply looking more closely at your immediate landscape.

An excellent, sweet story with a good but unpolished narration
Revisado: 10-03-23
I quite enjoyed this novel. It was so descriptive and I quite enjoyed the narrating and perspectives. I admit that I found this novel solely because I was looking for novels with moths as characters and books with moths as subjects. While this novel was not what I had in mind, it was an excellent listen. I enjoyed the characters immensely and I adored the descriptions of butterflies and moths–their appearances, their movements…
Starkey has a good voice for narration. How someone reads a text is entirely how they perceive, enjoy, and are engaged with it. Starkey speaks clearly and carries the characters and their emotions like a performance. The audio quality, here and there, does become inconsistent and the audio is not entirely consistent. This is a lengthy novel, however, so I will not gripe about it. Overall, this audio book was quite good.
