Historia
Private detective Olivia Welles hasn’t been to her hometown since childhood, not since the night she died. She has no memory of the world before the car crash, or of coming back to life in the morgue. But now, years later, when fellow survivor Bonnie Ray calls from a Kansas jail begging for help, Olivia feels the tug of a dark and unremembered past. Bonnie looks guilty of murdering her young son—the third child to die under suspicious circumstances. Intrigued and seeking closure, Olivia agrees to investigate.

Two hours in and still waiting for something to happen
Revisado: 09-09-24
Narrator is great but where’s the plot? I keep waiting for something to happen but it’s really unclear what is happening and when the story is really going to start

Historia
Cal's "honeymoon" didn't start off quite how he'd planned. For starters, he was heading somewhere he didn't actually want to go. And secondly, he was going alone and unmarried. He had no idea that his first visit to New York City would also land him in the middle of a domestic terror attack, forcing him to flee Manhattan in a desperate bid to survive. This was no ordinary terror attack. The Movement, in a misguided attempt to seize political control of the USA, unwittingly invited the destruction of their homeland.

Loved the narrator but the story was underwhelming. It had all the elements of something great but it just never developed. I wish too that there was a pause between chapter transitions. The quick changes to a new POV were confusing

A simple DNA test is all it takes. Just a quick mouth swab, and soon, you'll be matched with your perfect partner - the one you're genetically made for. That's the promise made by Match Your DNA. A decade ago, the company announced that they had found the gene that pairs each of us with our soul mate. Since then, millions of people around the world have been matched. But the discovery has its downsides: Test results have led to the breakup of countless relationships and upended the traditional ideas of dating, romance, and love.

Historia
It all started with a simple, yet sneakily difficult challenge from global best-selling author Harlan Coben: Pick a bird of prey, then use it as the inspiration for a brand-new story. The response from some of the best writers on the planet: Game on! The result: Eleven stories that are twisty, scary, surprising and bursting with imagination. An egg worth more than its weight in gold. A mysterious operative known only as Owl. An eagle-watcher who sees more than she should. Even a story that somehow places the Maltese Falcon in a nursing home.

Historia
It’s been a decade since Trumanell Branson disappeared, leaving only a bloody handprint behind. Her pretty face still hangs like a watchful queen on the posters on the walls of the town’s Baptist church, the police station, and in the high school. They all promise the same thing: We will find you. Meanwhile, Tru's brother, Wyatt, lives as a pariah in the desolation of the old family house, cleared of wrongdoing by the police but tried and sentenced in the court of public opinion and in a new documentary about the crime.

Historia
Everything Elka knows of the world she learned from the man she calls Father, the solitary hunter who took her under his wing when she was just seven years old. He has taught her how to shoot, track, set snares, and start fires - all the skills she needs to survive in a frozen, lawless land where civilization has been destroyed and men are at the mercy of the elements and each other. But the man Elka thought she knew so well is harboring a terrible secret. He's a killer. A monster.

Takes a Bite And Won't Let Go
Revisado: 05-11-17
What made the experience of listening to The Wolf Road the most enjoyable?
I just felt drawn into the Elka's story. Her use of language was particularly interesting as was her journey in this post-apocalyptic world.
What other book might you compare The Wolf Road to and why?
I kinda think it's in a class by itself. It has classic tropes in modern YA fiction, but the society isn't the focus. It's the girl. She lives in this world, and this is all she's known. She deals.
Which character – as performed by Amy McFadden – was your favorite?
She was just terrific. She uses the slightest accent and Lewis's language, as written, would be a challenge for a lesser actor, but McFadden pulls it off seamless. I really felt for Elka.

Beautiful Stories
Revisado: 02-25-17
What did you love best about The Blue Hour?
This is a collection of stories about the winter of people's lives, a time when things are cold and unknown. There's poetry in Pritchett's writing and a sense that beauty coexists with ugliness.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved that THE BLUE HOUR explores love (and the lack of it), loss, and the fragility of the human psyche.
Which scene was your favorite?
There's no real scene really...but the narrators are amazing. The narrators are so perfectly cast that it seems like they're telling you stories from their heart and not the page.
If you could rename The Blue Hour, what would you call it?
It's the perfect title.
Any additional comments?
Stories can be listened to independently, but as a whole it creates a tableau of a community. (I also discovered some new-to-me narrators by listening.)

I loved everything about this. The plot, characters, narration...everything. It's a fascinating glimpse behind the curtain and into the mind of a queen. Is destiny made or is it embraced? Do you live by choice or happenstance? What a fun listen!

Historia
In Lisa Gardner's second short story, after the New York Times bestseller The 7th Month, Detective D.D. Warren takes on her most intimidating assignment yet: a fifty-minute class meant to educate a horde of bloodthirsty thriller writers on the ways of actual police work. Yet sometimes life really does imitate fiction, as D.D. takes the writers through the reality of one of her most twisted cases - a case that involves a seedy motel room, drugs, prostitution...and a severed leg.

Flawless
Revisado: 04-07-16
If you could sum up 3 Truths and a Lie in three words, what would they be?
What a fun romp, if you can call a gruesome little detective story a romp. It's the perfect blend of narrator with the story to create a truly fun listen. Plus, it's super short, so it's good to listen in between longer books.
What was one of the most memorable moments of 3 Truths and a Lie?
I love the set up of the detective presenting her most memorable case to a group of writers. It made the listener feel like they were in the room. So much fun.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. It's a story.
