Historia
When retired math teacher Grace Winters is left a run-down house on a Mediterranean island by a long-lost friend, curiosity gets the better of her. She arrives in Ibiza with a one-way ticket, no guidebook and no plan. Among the rugged hills and golden beaches of the island, Grace searches for answers about her friend’s life, and how it ended. What she uncovers is stranger than she could have dreamed. But to dive into this impossible truth, Grace must first come to terms with her past.

I didn't expect a Fantasy story...
Revisado: 12-02-24
it was a bit too "far out there" for me and made me feel like I had found myself in a wizard story. However, I can totally image other people loving it. It was just not really for me. Well read though.

Historia
Woodrow Wilson Nickel, age 105, feels his life ebbing away. But when he learns giraffes are going extinct, he finds himself recalling the unforgettable experience he cannot take to his grave. It’s 1938. The Great Depression lingers. Hitler is threatening Europe, and world-weary Americans long for wonder. They find it in two giraffes who miraculously survive a hurricane while crossing the Atlantic. What follows is a twelve-day road trip in a custom truck to become Southern California’s first giraffes. Behind the wheel is the young Dust Bowl rowdy Woodrow.

Well told story; recommend!
Revisado: 08-02-24
This was one of those books where simply looking at the storyline one could say that not a whole lot happens. However, I got totally invested in the details of the story and it's characters. Great storytelling all around and very well performed from the perspective of a very old man telling the story of this unusual road Trip. I totally recommend this audiobook.

Historia

Historia
Grandpa and Noah are sitting on a bench in a square that keeps getting smaller every day. The square is strange but also familiar, full of the odds and ends that have made up their lives: Grandpa's work desk, the stuffed dragon that Grandpa once gave to Noah, the sweet-smelling hyacinths that Grandma loved to grow in her garden.

Liked it
Revisado: 02-08-22
Overall, I enjoyed listening to this story as it really let's you live in the mind of someone who struggles with anxiety and other mental challenges. Since I myself am not struggling with this, I found it very eye-opening and valuable, as you understand the thinking behind the behaviors of the main character. At some point it got a bit too much and repetitive in my opinion. The book also has many very funny moments. The reader's performance is very good.
