Historia
Illegal immigration is among the most challenging and divisive issues facing America. With few changes in immigration laws since 1986, the undocumented population has swelled to an estimated 11 million. Deconstructed unravels these economic issues and their human toll through the eyes of Houston businessman Stan Marek, who’s watched the immigration crisis unfold over 40 years.

Excellent book -should be required reading!
Revisado: 11-26-24
This book is a great overview of what many businesses have been facing and unfortunately will continue to face over the next four years. It’s very sad to me that people have lost their empathy and for that matter, critical thinking skills to clearly look at an issue that is resolvable without harming businesses, families, and our great country. I commend Stan Marek for working so hard on this issue and caring about his employees -understanding what makes business great.

Historia
In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump and many around him, including certain other elected Republican officials, intentionally breached their oath to the Constitution: they ignored the rulings of dozens of courts, plotted to overturn a lawful election, and provoked a violent attack on our Capitol.

You can't choose your family -shame on them.
Revisado: 11-27-23
I never really followed her career as I'm older than her but have enjoyed many of her songs. It's hard to understand how any parent could do what they did to her. I hope she is strong enough to know that she is not them and she can live her life, love her children, have good people in her life and accept that they have their own demons which have nothing to do with who she is. My heart broke for her throughout this whole book, to think of a young girl who had a dream, made it happen, fell in love with the wrong men, worked her butt off, supported so many people with her sweat and to have people who were her blood, the people who were supposed to have her back treat her as they did, unreal. I can't imagine. They will have to live with what they did to their own child the rest of their lives, and so will the people who were complicit with them, they know. For me, it would be hard to forgive but forgiveness is more for her to move on, and she deserves to be able to do that and leave them all behind. I hope she finds the love and respect she deserves and the rest of her life is filled joy and happiness.

Wish I appreciated more
Revisado: 01-25-19
This book opened a door into Michelle Obama's life. The beginning had a lot of detail about her childhood but after the first 6 or 7 chapters, she was sharing about college life on. I didn't know much about them in 2008, but always respected and liked how they represented our country while in office. But since the 2016 election, with all the chaos we see every day, I became more interested in who the Obama's were and how they felt during their time in the White House and now. I felt very emotional through this book because I just didn't know how good we had it. Regardless of agreement on policy, the Obamas are truly good, real, deeply caring people. I honestly do not know how anyone can say the things they say (negative) about them personally, as I said you may not agree with a decision or political view, but as people, they are people we all should strive to be like. This book shares so much of them as people, it's not political, it's about who Michelle is, how she felt then and how she feels now. I had to give up hope she'd run for President, but am proud of them having been President and First Lady for 8 years, representing our great country. You will love this book and have a new love for the Obamas after reading, enjoy!
