Did Not Disappoint…
Revisado: 12-14-23
‘Cackle’, was my second novel by Rachel Harrison, and it did not disappoint. I really enjoy how she writes such strong, independent, empowered women.
I’m going to start adding the rest of her work to my library.
Dylan Moore did an absolutely fantastic job with the narration. I could easily distinguish each of the characters from one another, and her voice in general was just pleasant to listen to.

Absolutely another winner!!!
Revisado: 06-23-23
I’ve been waiting on the edge of my seat with all of her other fans, ever since Ruth Ware announced this new title. I wasn’t disappointed.
This really is such a tightly wound story, and the tension does not let up. You really will feel like you’ve run a marathon, and I mean that in the very best way.
I did absolutely ZERO research on the story. Ms. ware released the first chapter to us, I forcibly restrained myself 😉 from reading it. I didn’t even read the publisher’s summary, I went in completely blind. I have that much faith in Ms. Ware, AND Imogen Church.
This is the third novel I’ve read this week, and I’ll probably read it again. I’m sure I missed a few things during the parts where I was afraid to take a breath for fear of giving away Jack’s hiding place 🫣.
So good!
Use the credit… did I mention Imogen Church ❤️?

“To season two”.
This was a fantastic novella/ short story. I really enjoy Margot Hunt’s work, and this did not disappoint.
I was immediately drawn in by the main character and invested in the hope that she could revive her journalistic career. The true crime podcast she develops with help from friends and family, and the mystery she unfolds, kept me listening straight through the entire audiobook.
Please, season two… and Dakota Fanning is a hell of a brilliant narrator!!
Bravo 🎉

Revisado: 06-09-22
I do agree with the majority of the other reviewers. I only gave the 5 stars because the parts that are good are REALLY good… but that’s it, just parts. I have so much respect for the rest of the series, even the 4th installment had me on the edge of my seat.
I really struggled to get through this one. Not for one moment did I find my mind wandering and have to hit rewind in any of the others. In this one, I honestly lost count. Especially with Lysander’s storyline, ffs 🤦🏼♀️…drone on and on and on and,… it wasn’t the narrator’s fault either. It was the material.
Despite this dud, which I may pretend I didn’t read (so certain folk are still alive in my head), this series remains one of the top 3 Sci-fi/fantasy series I’ve ever read in all of my 50+ years. So thank you Mr. Brown, thank you ever so much.

Holy crap.
Don’t waste your time listening to this swill.
I knew by the end of the first episode who the villain was. It was just outright obvious, so obvious in fact, that I figured there would be a twist. It couldn’t be that easy, I mean, right?
Wrong 😑.

More, please 🙏🏻.
I’m in my mid-fifties (born in 1966), these episodes just speak to me so well. I was in tears after the first episode. I was diagnosed with MS when I woke one morning in late November 2018, completely paralyzed on my entire left side. I am no longer paralyzed but I am significantly, permanently, disabled. I DON’T love my body, I never have. I am eating disordered, and have been on and off diets my entire life, literally as long as I can remember. We (family of 3 sisters) were always told by our pediatrician, and our mother who herself was likely eating disordered, that we were overweight. I’ve only ever seen overweight when I look in a mirror, and I actually avoid mirrors wherever possible. When I look back at our photos from our childhood, I see very small girls, who played in the woods, climbed trees with a book to read (me), played outside from dawn to dusk, and in no way were anything other than fit and healthy. It infuriates me.
I am legitimately overweight now, because my mobility is so limited, but my medical condition has only made me despise this body more.
And then I listened to this first episode…
Wow.
Thank you for this, this podcast is a revelation.
I want to add that I firmly believe that in listening to this podcast you leave a negative review, you are part of the fucking problem.

In the lands of Bethel, where the Prophet's word is law, Immanuelle Moore's very existence is blasphemy. Her mother's union with an outsider of a different race cast her once-proud family into disgrace, so Immanuelle does her best to worship the Father, follow Holy Protocol, and lead a life of submission, devotion, and absolute conformity, like all the other women in the settlement. But a mishap lures her into the forbidden Darkwood surrounding Bethel, where the first prophet once chased and killed four powerful witches.

Fantastic Young Adult read
Revisado: 01-12-22
I gave this one 5 stars, not because it was a great read for an adult (I’m 55), but it’s a novel that I would not hesitate to have had my children read when they were teens, or my grandchildren to read now.
As an adult, with a favorite genre of horror, it was incredibly tame. I found myself rolling my eyes an awful lot, then immediately chiding myself with a reminder that this was most definitely YA reading.
The narrator was just fair, but I understand why she was chosen for this novel. She had an excellent YA voice. At times I felt that there was a lack of inflection, and other times the stress of the situation called for a different modulation. Other than that she did a good job.
All of that being said, the pros outweighed the cons when viewed through the lens of Young Adult fiction. Highly recommended for your young adult, or for adults who favor this genre.

Ummm 🧐
Revisado: 10-23-21
I love Nina Manning. Her stories are all very well crafted, and just twisty enough to keep you guessing. I’ll purchase this one as a physical book.
I cannot finish due to the narration. I can usually get around narrators that ‘put me off’ at the outset by continuing in for a few chapters. Well, I did, and I can’t. Her voice modulation is just downright odd. Inflection is non-existent, every sentence spoken in the same tone. The end of every sentence much lower than the beginning, as though her voice is petering out.
I hate that I can’t finish this, but I’m glad I didn’t waste a credit on it.

The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore ( Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving.

Really, REALLY good.
Revisado: 09-05-21
I’m so glad I visited The Grand Hotel.
I appreciate the fact that Audible now features the Audible Plus catalog. It’s a fantastic way to introduce new authors to readers, this book being a prime example. It reminded me of the stories I enjoyed in my youth, 45+ years ago. Not that this is young adult fiction, it is not, just in the way diverse tales and characters are blended into one overarching theme. It’s the ‘adventure’ of the story that feels nostalgic, I think. Riddles and Jinn, kings and time travel, priests and ghosts, just a pleasure to read.
Christian Rummel, always a wonder to hear. I can’t even number now as I think of them, how many entirely distinct voices he executed to perfection. Bravo!
5 stars all around, and I am happy to have discovered a new author. I seriously cannot recommend this highly enough.
