Excellent biography

Excellent detailed account of Rockefeller. J. R. MacGregor really gets into just about every aspect of Rockefeller's life and to my surprise, a lot of his family and peers. Quite a long book but the writing is excellent. Making it seem like he was naive and stressed throughout all his life. I didn't think that was fair or important for the biography. Very inspirational book. Motivates you to not be complacent.

Very good book

This book provides great insight into the often secret actions of J.P. Morgan's bank and many of the other large banks and investment firms. The troubling truth is that many past financial actions that caused serious problems exist today. Very good book.

Very good listen

Ford employs a lot of wisdom about his long career in the automobile industry as well as his vast reservoir of knowledge on other matters including management, business, as a service, even farming techniques.. one of the things I liked that he touched on was using corn as a fuel.. something which from what I’ve heard has a lot to do with prohibition and he corruption of oil companies historically.

Cornelius Vanderbilt I had no illusions about his life. He didn’t start out with grand plans and ungodly greed. He merely stepped in this world one foot at a time, one boat at a time, one market at a time - one day at a time. He worked 16 hours a day, seven days a week. He worked hard and played hard. When all was said and done, though, he was a simple man who pushed the world of transportation to be all it could be - to be what it is today. Vanderbilt was a man of steel, and we can learn incredible things from him.

I loved listening this book

I loved listening this book. I have always thought of Vanderbilt University in terms of a few distinguished people who attended there, but saw it in a new light after listening this book. The author made all the members of the family that were told about colorful and entertaining. I did not expect to get as much from this book when I purchased it as I did. I enjoy listening and have listen several books .

He accomplished a great deal

One must judge personalities in the light of their times. Pollution was not understood in the days of Andrew Carnegie. Improvement in the lives of workers came about gradually. In his own way, he accomplished a great deal. lighten up, critics!
