I requested a refund

Would you try another book from Mike Dooley and/or Mike Dooley?
I would rather hit myself in the head with hammer.
What was most disappointing about Mike Dooley’s story?
He is ego driven and in love with himself.
How could the performance have been better?
I've purchased many books from audible, and have never requested my money back until this one. Mike Dooley is obviously quite impressed with himself. I tried 4 different times to listen to this book and each time abandoned it wanting to throw a brick at this guy's head. Every word of every sentence was accentuated to where I think he popped veins narrating this book. He sounded ridiculous. Every word he said was totally ego driven - how can anyone find him credible? I could not.
Any additional comments?
Mike Dooley - for the love of all that is holy, pony up and pay a professional narrator you pompous jerk.

Historia
This is an amazing true story of a female civilian employee of the Army Corps of Engineers in Basrah and Nasiriyah, Iraq. She was riding in a truck with men when a roadside bomb destroyed the vehicle. Her body was so severely damaged that there was no possible way she could live. She vividly recounts her near-death experience when she went out of her body, to the spirit world.

Heavy stuff with no fanfare
Revisado: 07-08-15
Any additional comments?
I bought this in both hardcopy and audible. Natalie makes it look easy to write and deliver such intense information clearly and succinctly. I am hoping she will write another book.

Historia
Thousands of people have had near-death experiences, but scientists have argued that they are impossible. Dr. Eben Alexander was one of those scientists. Neurosurgeon Alexander knew that NDEs feel real, but are simply fantasies produced by brains under extreme stress. Then, Dr. Alexander’s own brain was attacked by a rare illness. The part of the brain that controls thought and emotion shut down completely. For seven days he lay in a coma. Then Alexander’s eyes popped open. He had come back. Alexander’s recovery is a medical miracle. But the real miracle of his story lies elsewhere.

NDE was incidental
Revisado: 07-08-15
Any additional comments?
His reading voice was fine, which goes a long way with me, but the story did not deliver what the title implied. Most of the book is about his illness and the drama with his family. The NDE and crossing over seemed incidental and only casually mentioned. I sort of doubted his credibility when I purchased the book but I wanted to give it a chance. Now I feel a little duped and won't waste my time/money on anything further he has to say/write.
