Historia
Challenged by an expert who said it couldn’t be done, Joshua Slocum, a fearless New England sea captain, set out in April 1895 to prove that a man could sail alone around the world. A little over three years and forty-six thousand miles later, the proof was complete. This is Slocum’s own account of his remarkable adventures during the historic voyage of the Spray.

When I was younger, I watched a masterfully done A&E series based on these stories. They were a favorite of mine and I'm glad to hear how faithfully they kept to the original narrative.
Enjoy the audio then dive into the A&E series.

Historia
Most of the world remembers Crazy Horse as a peerless warrior who brought the U.S. Army to its knees at the Battle of Little Bighorn. But to his fellow Lakota Indians, he was a dutiful son and humble fighting man who, with valor, spirit, respect, and unparalleled leadership, fought for his people's land, livelihood, and honor. In this fascinating biography, Joseph Marshall, himself a Lakota Indian, creates a vibrant portrait of the man, his times, and his legacy.

I deeply appreciate the author's labor in writing a book to help others see beyond the sensationalized warrior of the movie screens and other works to introduce us to Light Hair. the man who stood as a stone in the stream of history.

Historia
Reporter Sam Kean reveals the periodic table as it’s never been seen before. Not only is it one of man's crowning scientific achievements, it's also a treasure trove of stories of passion, adventure, betrayal, and obsession. The infectious tales and astounding details in The Disappearing Spoon follow carbon, neon, silicon, and gold as they play out their parts in human history, finance, mythology, war, the arts, poison, and the lives of the (frequently) mad scientists who discovered them.

A wonderful narrative a magazine editor who pushed back from the desk and followed his long-held dream to the highlands of Peru. In The same spirit as A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson, it not only takes you through many of the pithy details of travel preparation and the grueling deprivations of the trail but it fills in the rich modern and historical context that surrounds the exploration of Inca ruins.
