And, of course, he's brought marines, and lots of them. These are troops superbly trained for space battle and equipped with advanced powered armor and artificial intelligence backup.

The reason why warriors like this guy.

As a misguided child, Travis get's jarheads better than anyone since Heinlein. A constantly moving story, and good character development. Also, doesn't hurt that he's an actual rocket scientist when going through the technobabble.
