Historia
The Plaza is the account of one vaunted New York City address that has become synonymous with wealth and scandal, opportunity and tragedy. With glamour on the surface and strife behind the scenes, it is the story of how one hotel became a mirror reflecting New York's place at the center of the country's cultural narrative for over a century.

good story. terrible narrator
Revisado: 01-08-20
The books was a nice read but the narrator was really irritating. He had a half faux accent the whole time and I had to keep stopping the book & coming back to it because of his voice. I'd day get the print version.

Historia
The history of magic is as long as time and as wide as the world. In every culture, in every age, in every place and, probably, in every heart, there is magic. Harry Potter: A History of Magic reveals some of the hidden stories behind real-world magic and explores some of J.K. Rowling's magical inventions alongside their folkloric, cultural and historical forebears.

Audio Documentary
Revisado: 10-25-18
This book was not what I was expecting. It's less like a story and more like if you were watching a documentary on TV and then the picture went away, leaving just the audio. Some of the experts were so soft spoken I kept having to turn it up just to hear them speak and then turn it down quick when they stopped. It's well researched and informative but not very exciting in anyway at all.

Historia
In 1939, as Poland falls under the shadow of the Nazis, young Alma Belasco's parents send her away to live in safety with an aunt and uncle in their opulent mansion in San Francisco. There, as the rest of the world goes to war, she encounters Ichimei Fukuda, the quiet and gentle son of the family's Japanese gardener. Unnoticed by those around them, a tender love affair begins to blossom. Following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the two are cruelly pulled apart.

wonderful read
Revisado: 08-01-16
I lived this story. Allende writes such breathtaking stories with characters that are so incredibly human. This story has characters that are messy, selfish, kind, and unwavering in their unique love and commitment.
The main character Alma is a beautifully messy elderly human woman. Full of complex emotions. The story of her life and loves was so amazing I'm still in awe of how much I enjoyed it.
I think the sub plot of the caretaker, Irina, and the grandson, Seth, was my least favorite part. If their story was left out the book wouldn't feel like it was missing anything honestly
Al in all, highly recommended.

Historia
Four hundred years after Shakespeare's death, Keenan's smart and passionate memoir brings new life to his work. With 14 of his plays as a springboard, she explores the many facets of love and sexuality - from desire and communication to fetish and fantasy. In A Midsummer Night's Dream, Keenan unmasks Helena as a sexual masochist - like Jillian herself. In Macbeth, she examines criminalized sexual identities and the dark side of "privacy".

great book
Revisado: 04-30-16
This was definitely a great read. It was super interesting and made me think of things in a way I would have never done before reading it. The author was funny, honest and smart. I never wanted to put it down (or press pause in this case)
Highly recommend
