My husband was not a monster. No matter what they say.... The day my husband, Michael, stepped in front of a lorry after being questioned by the police, my world fell apart. He was devoted to me and our six-year-old daughter. But they’d connected him to the disappearance of a young mother from our tiny village.

This book was written by somebody who had no real editor or was unable to listen to any editing advise. The author tells us about the characteristics of several people in thr book so many times that I lt seems as if maybe there is an OCD problem going on. I mean this book is horrendously dull on top of that. It doesn't capture village life, it doesn't capture the day to say lives of people we are supposed to care about at all. It's like reading an expanded diary of a mean person. This book is awful.

Historia
Our new home was supposed to be a chance to leave our past behind. But was moving here the worst mistake of our lives? All our friends and family were gathered, glasses raised to toast our fresh start. It should have been a night for happiness and celebration. Zac and I had worked so hard for this: our first home together, just minutes from the sea. But the dream quickly turned into a nightmare.

Disturbingky real
Revisado: 03-22-21
This novel captures the tension of parenting that really hits you in a vsiceral way. You can just feel the conflict of the protagonist and the very realistic mixed feelings we all have as parents about our children ..expect this book delves into horrifying scenarios that unfortunately can be very real. I spent may years working in juvenile law enforcement, child protective services and family court. I can tell you that some of the psychology of these characters struck a chord from my own cases. ..... wow this writer had very keen grasp on this subject matter. I felt the mother's character should have sought a professional for help, tho.. This does not always mean something positive but was a flaw in this particular plot .However, I have sat in many sessions with well meaning people who allow thier "education" to over indetify with psychopaths so sometimes counseling does make it worse. . Trust me I am not over exaggerating. I went thru this in an agency where the client ended up being a serial killer an there are many, many helping professionals who don't belong in the field because they do not understand the concept of evil. They think there is always some underlying "trauma" and this "trauma," philosophy has been allowed to excuse to many people from responsibility. I have seen many a smart narccisist and psychopath use this to manipulate a case worker/therapist. Tho this behavior does not always lead to brutal outcomesz it has the possibility to. This story captures the nightmare of the potential psychopath being your own kid better than almost any I have ever read.

Very good writer who needed an honest friend or editor. The story is a mess. Honestly, I am an avid reader so maybe this author will read this review and take it to heart. The story was way to unbelievable, too many sub plots, and just strange. I could see really interesting ideas here that should have been fleshed out better. The big plus is the author is a good writer which means all of the above is fixable. She wrote the homeless person very well as I have spent my whole life working in that system. Great details and descriptions just needed a better plot. I think telling story thru the eyes of homeless person could really be used well in a different setting. I could see a real thriller there. Keep trying.

There was just nothing to this book but somebody who took some played out ideas and piece them together to make a book . Narrators are great but they cannot make a story that's not here. This author does not have a genuine understandinf of how to write characters..totally flat. The plot was really just taken from a few movies we have all seen. Really bad. This raises another question I have come across lately: people cannot tell the difference between good books and bad ones any more. There is matter of opinion and basic reading ability here folks..this story is a stinker

Historia
Eco-terrorists unleash the worst attack the world has ever seen. Over 25,000 autonomous combat drones are released in Manhattan. Hundreds of thousands are dead, and the entire island is evacuated and quarantined in just a few days' time. Ten years later, Manhattan is still empty of humans, with the exception of the salvage specialists of the most watched reality show in history: Zone War. Produced live and unedited, the show follows five teams of armored vehicle specialists who brave the active drones to recover lost riches and collect bounties on dead ones.

This book set up a good premise and then provides no story. it's page after page of generic tech detail and absolutely flat, life less characters. I would bet this started off as a script for a tv show or movie..it feels like that way. Total waste of credit/money. How anyone could rate this five stars and rave about it makes me really question if I belong in this culture anymore. This book is terrible.

Look..I have been reading this genre for more than 40 years..since Carter was in the White House. This author seems like a genuine guy but the writing betrays his lack of life experience and ability to write a story that suspends disbelief in a way needed for adults. The book is like a bad 90s sci fi blockbuster that you cannot remember the title of or who you were with when you saw it. Honestly, this book needed editing and the author absolutely needs to develop as a writer.

This book is full of caricatures and the caricatures telegraph trope and cliches that I found to be drivel. I felt like I was spending time in the fake towns that were made to test the Nuclear weapons on in the 50s. The book was a barely interesting idea.

Historia
New Amerland was designed and built by survivors of the Incident. Those were the people who, by some miracle, managed to get underground before the bombs fell; they managed to lock away themselves and their families and to survive the worst nuclear attack in history. A lucky few would be selected by lottery and handed a ticket for free. At least 50 percent failed the test and were fated to die on their desolate and degraded planet.

I don't write well so writing a review is difficult. I have always read a lot, tho. I have been reading Science Fiction for 40 years and honesty most if what is written today does not appeal to me but I did like this book. I guess what I liked the most was the story and felt as if I was watching old Flash Gordon or a cool b space movie from the 80s. I thought the story was interesting and could picture it. I hope the author keeps working hard on this craft. I left the review to encourage the author to keep working at it. Some good ideas here that needed some better development but was enjoyable. Would be good for kids.
