Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

WoW Great Book!
Revisado: 05-05-14
This book is like finding a treasure in an old fashioned flea market- a delight .
I have wondered from time to time what life in Germany might have been like after WW2 but never expected to have this amazing experience, a story about courage, loss, fear, love, compassion, and spunk! It never falters. I will look for more books by Markus Zusak
Credit worthy!

Historia
Heloise considers it a blessing to be a person who seldom attracts attention. In her suburb, she's just a mom, the young widow with the forgettable job, who somehow never misses a soccer game. In the state capital, she's the redheaded lobbyist with a good cause and a mediocre track record. But in discreet hotel rooms throughout the area, she's the woman of your dreams - if you can afford the hourly fee. For more than a decade, Heloise believed she was safe, managing to keep up this rigidly compartmentalized life. But her secret life is under siege. One county over, another so-called suburban madam has been found dead in her car, an apparent suicide.

Historia
Alexia Tarabotti, Lady Maccon, has settled into domestic bliss. Of course, being Alexia, such bliss involves integrating werewolves into London High society, living in a vampire's second best closet, and coping with a precocious toddler who is prone to turning supernatural willy-nilly. Even Ivy Tunstell's acting troupe's latest play, disastrous to say the least, cannot put a damper on Alexia's enjoyment of her new London lifestyle.

Deep Emotional Mystery
Revisado: 03-25-13
If you could sum up Snow White Must Die in three words, what would they be?
Heaven Save Us!
What other book might you compare Snow White Must Die to and why?
It compares easily to our best American mystery writers. I am now a real fan of Nele Neunaus! The story is multi faceted, has great depth, many characters well defined while it highlights the high cost of human frailty.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
no, it is more fun to draw this one out to 2 or 3 days to ponder and enjoy it more.
Any additional comments?
I am just delighted to be able to read great books like this one from other Countries. Don't miss this one.

Lightweight and Fun
Revisado: 03-25-13
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I did like this book as a diversion from the heavyweight mysteries that have so much more to them. I would give it a three at best but sometimes light is right for the moment.
Would you be willing to try another one of Khristine Hvam’s performances?
Yea
Any additional comments?
A nice fantasy love story for a day when you do not wish to engage but just enjoy something light. Not for the serious minded who want an intense story. I am sure there are lots of folks who enjoy this sort of book.

A music therapist who thrives on helping others, Kendra Michaels cherishes the ordinary life she has achieved after stem cell surgery restored her sight. The skills she perfected during those sightless years - the ability to pick up the most subtle audio, olfactory, and tactile cues in the world around her - coupled with her laser-sharp mind - have made her a uniquely potent observer and problem solver. Kendra’s uncanny way of connecting the dots is as baffling to law enforcement as it is legendary.

A fresh idea for a good book
Revisado: 11-09-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Close Your Eyes to be better than the print version?
No, however, this book is a very good audio choice. The story is interesting and complex. It is well worth my credit.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Elisabeth Rodgers?
Yes
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, More than One. I found this book more interesting than some because it is different, and I found it intelligent not far-fetched which can really disappoint sometimes. Yet, I often enjoy a good fantasy as well.
Any additional comments?
On the edge of your seat page turner it isn't, but I enjoyed it very much. I recommend it.
