Contemplative and Satisfying
Revisado: 05-25-23
The novel is simple. The life of a man. His formative years; disappointments, joys, tragedies. A meditation on the choices one makes and how, in the end, a life well lived is not necessarily one of success and acclaim. This might be one of McEwan's strongest efforts in a while. Perhaps even, one of his most personal. Take time to listen, it is worth the ride.

Historia
This magnificent novel by one of America's finest writers is the epic of one man's remarkable journey, set in 19th-century America against the background of a vanishing people and a rich way of life. At the age of 12, under the Wind moon, Will is given a horse, a key, and a map, and sent alone into the Indian Nation to run a trading post as a bound boy. It is during this time that he grows into a man, learning, as he does, of the raw power it takes to create a life, to find a home.

Will Patton is an exceptional reader.
Revisado: 09-09-22
This book took me a summer to get through. Not because it was boring but because I wanted to savour it and do it justice by giving it my full attention. This is a great American novel and Will Patton does a fantastic job of inhabiting the narrator Will Cooper. A satisfying tale of love lost and found and lost in a changing world. Highly recommended!

Historia
Thomas Savage, a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship and a PEN/Faulkner Award nominee, has long been a critically acclaimed author. The New Yorker calls him "a writer of the first order". This starkly elegant story details the lives of Emma Russell Sweringen and her family in the early 1900s. Emma’s daughter Beth secretly gave up a baby girl for adoption many years ago. Now, Beth’s secret life is being unraveled as her daughter comes looking for her long-lost family.

Badly edited.
Revisado: 03-22-22
This sounds like an older production. The narration is okay, but the production is a bit rough, in parts not enough pause between paragraphs and in others there is too much. It might be worthwhile to redo or at least clean up the master so you have a more professional sounding product. The story meanders also. Could use an edit in that respect as well.

Historia
Down market lanes crammed with too many people, dogs, and rickshaws lies a jumble of tin-roofed homes where nine-year-old Jai lives with his family. Jai drools outside sweet shops, watches too many reality police shows, and considers himself to be smarter than his friends, Pari and Faiz. When a classmate goes missing, Jai decides to use the crime-solving skills he has picked up from TV to find him. He asks Pari and Faiz to be his assistants, and together they draw up lists of people to interview and places to visit.

Wonderful performances, sad story
Revisado: 02-22-20
Anappara has created a rich world by telling the story though the eyes of the nine year old Jai. The readers are wonderful, especially Indira Varma who has one of the most excellent voices I have ever heard. The story is heartbreaking but told with humour and much respect for the rich human tapestry. The basti of this large Indian city comes alive with it’s inhabitants. Most worthwhile.
