I loved how the events in the book were revealed. There would be a plot point and you just needed to know how it happened or came to be. The pace was excellent and the characters were great. I would highly recommended this to anyone who likes historical fiction.

Historia
In 1982, Wendy Wood was poised on the brink of stardom. Lead singer with talented local band, Velvet Temptation, she was a rising star of the Oxford music scene. Tipped for fame by the music press, success seemed inevitable. But conflict within the band, a series of betrayals and infidelities, and an unwelcome run of bad luck all played a part in shattering her dreams.

The tie in to the Punk/New Wave scene was great
Revisado: 02-18-25
Great concept and a good entertaining listen. I am a time travel junkie and it can be very hard to find good time travel books. The concept of representing every year of the 80's in a series makes this even better as I have fond memories of that time. I also like that these are a set in the UK. Being from the US you get a bit of a different perspective on the events and people described. Also learning all the British colloquialisms is enjoyable. I usually do not like series books because they never seem to end. Each of these stories has a defined end and the next one just holds on to the premise with new characters and situations. Give it a shot.

Historia
Fancy a trip back in time to 1981? Then join Nick Taylor as he gets the opportunity of a lifetime to relive a whole year of his life. 1981 wasn't a year Nick remembered fondly. His mother was killed in a plane crash, his father ran off with the babysitter, and he was sent to possibly the most horrible school in the world. 2020 ends on a similar note when that babysitter, now his stepmother, can't be bothered to tell him his father is dying until it is too late and then promptly disinherits him.

You may recognize his voice as the narrator of "A Christmas Story". Long before that, master storyteller and humorist Jean Shepherd's voice graced the late-night airwaves during the 60's and 70's on WOR 710 New York.

Great story with expanded characters. It has been years since I listened to Earthcore but was able to recall all the needed details. I tore through this quicker than most books I listen to. Ray did an excellent job as always with the narration
