Historia
Lydia is hungry. She's always wanted to try Japanese food. Sashimi, ramen, onigiri with sour plum stuffed inside - the food her Japanese father liked to eat. And then there is bubble tea and iced-coffee, ice cream and cake, and foraged herbs and plants, and the vegetables grown by the other young artists at the London studio space she is secretly squatting in. But, Lydia can't eat any of these things. Her body doesn't work like those of other people.

Incredible
Revisado: 10-10-23
I loved this interpretation of vampires. Felt like a Phoebe Waller-Bridge story the whole way through! Incredible portrayal of feeling alienated from your culture, feeling objectified, growing up with a self-loathing mother, and overall coming of age. Just so incredibly good!!!!

Historia
When she stumbles across the ad, she’s looking for something else completely. But it seems like too good an opportunity to miss - a live-in nannying post, with a staggeringly generous salary. And when Rowan Caine arrives at Heatherbrae House, she is smitten - by the luxurious “smart” home fitted out with all modern conveniences, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and by this picture-perfect family. What she doesn’t know is that she’s stepping into a nightmare - one that will end with a child dead and herself in prison awaiting trial for murder.

Loved It!
Revisado: 12-10-20
I went in with no expectations, this was my first time reading one of Ruth Ware's novels and I was absolutely impressed! I felt myself constantly engaged, trying to figure out what was happening, if there actually was a supernatural element or not, what would happen to the children, which characters seemed off. I think starting off the story already establishing that someone will die, in particular one of the children and that it will be the narrator, their nanny, who will be accused was a brilliant choice. I found myself dreading every opening of a door, every creaking board, every noise. It helps that Imogen Church is so engaging at storytelling, the voices made the characters incredibly unique which can sometimes be an issue with audio books. The ending is a good pay off, when I say I was devastated I mean it and I didn't see it coming at all, was truly not what I had expected. Loved all the suspense and red herrings! I'm looking for every book Ruth Ware has written now!
