Consider the Lilies is for those who long for liberation from their anxiety and fear--and desire to deeply know the God they are called and enabled to trust. If you are starved for hope and gasping for peace, consider the character of your heavenly Father, who welcomes all who are anxious, fearful, and melancholy to trust in Him.

One of the Best
Revisado: 02-26-25
One of the best books on anxiety I have read. I love that the author uses so much scripture. So much so, I also have the hard copy to refer back to.

Deep Grace
Revisado: 12-20-23
I followed Bo as she wrote her blog years ago. That was at a time when there weren’t many voices in this area. At the time I was living my life from my bed and desperately needed someone to speak into that loneliness. Her blog did that for me. Since then I have given many, many copies of this book away. This Christmas, after losing my sister-in-law’s husband this past year, I decided to listen to the audio book version. It did not disappoint. I love that she works through the year. Through all of the seasons with a gentle, fresh perspective. Her calming voice is also very nice to listen to. It provides some balm to a hurting heart.

Today we are told to be true to ourselves, look within for answers, and follow our hearts. But when we put our own happiness first, we experience record-breaking levels of aimlessness, loneliness, depression, and anxiety. Self-centeredness always fails to deliver the fulfillment we're seeking.

Excellent Audible Experience
Revisado: 10-14-23
Not only is the information in the book much needed, the listening experience has been very enjoyable. The BEST yet on this platform. I love the added music, performed by the author, and the testimonials at the end of each chapter that are written and read by the author (or stand in) of said testimonials. It was such a great listening experience.
I really liked how the author intermixed culture throughout the book, both pop and those that lived long ago to challenge how we are told to think. Excellent all around!
I am officially a Heretic!

Lament is how we bring our sorrow to God - but it is a neglected dimension of the Christian life for many Christians today. We need to recover the practice of honest spiritual struggle that gives us permission to vocalize our pain and wrestle with our sorrow. Lament avoids trite answers and quick solutions, progressively moving us toward deeper worship and trust.

5 ⭐️for the book 1 ⭐️for the narration.
Revisado: 05-19-23
I found the author through a podcast about grief and lament. The podcast was excellent. The book is excellent. The narration is monotone and depressing. It almost sounds like a computer is reading it.
I have never heard a sermon about lament. I have spent the last 20 plus years living with intense physical pain, 18 of which was spent in bed. I wish I had found this book then. Instead, I languished in a non denominational type environment. This book has been balm to my soul.
Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

When someone we love is grieving, we want to be there. But it's easy to feel paralyzed, worried that we might say or do the wrong thing. Nancy Guthrie has personal experience dealing with pain and knows what words of encouragement are helpful and what words are harmful. Drawing from her own life experiences - including the loss of two young children - Guthrie has written this helpful resource for Christians who want to be better friends to those who are suffering.

Excellent Book, Poor Narration
Revisado: 04-27-23
It is very hard to find a practical book on grief. They all seem to be filled with platitudes, especially the Christian ones. This one is practical and filled with a lot of good advice. I wish I could say the same for the narration. It was rather depressing.
