Makes 50 Shades of Grey look like fine literature. Narrators leave much to be desired, also. He sounds bored and she aounds like an overanimated teenager. Not for me.

Dreadful
Revisado: 11-17-24
Immortals of New Orleans was initially a great series and I have listened to them multiple times. However, this is the last book I will buy from Ms. Grosso and anything else narrated by Ms. Kennicott. Julian seems to be a rote compilation of snippets from previous books. The storyline seems to follow a trope checklist and many of the scenes are interchangeable with previous scenarios and other characters in the collection. Ms. Kennicott's narration style is so distracting it makes listening to her chapters sheer torture. She alternates between whispering and shouting to, I can only guess, reflect changes in emotions and characters and I found it difficult to listen to her without a break. Why she inexplicably chose to give Dominique a British accent, very poorly executed, is beyond me. The only positive is Mr. West. His voices for specific characters make them easily identifiable and his accents are impeccable. I wish there was an option for reviewing multiple narrators because he is, as always, 5 stars.

terrible narrator
Revisado: 06-29-24
I hate to be negative but Ms. Shawnee is not the right narrator for books of this genre. Her voice tends to get screetchy and or loud when the characters are expressing intense emotion and that took me out of the story line. Apparently she is unable to express sexy voices, both for female and male characters, so the romantic scenes fell flat. At times it was indistinguishable between the characters and I couldn't identify which character she was portraying. Made for confusing conversations and I had to rewind portions for it to make sense. I gave the story 2 stars because of this as I was unable to appreciate the audio book. I was really disappointed and might purchase the Kindle version as Lexi Blake's books are the best but do need a talented narrator in order to enjoy the audio versions. I have all three in this series but hope Ms. Blake continues to use Ryan West for narration Masters and Mercenaries, et al series as he made the books come to life. Kaleo Griffith also did a great job with the first 3 of the Perfect Gentlemen series, Greg Boudreaux did not fare so well with the last 2.

Historia
Thousands of years ago, I fell from heaven to love a human woman. I willingly gave up my wings; shunned my place in heaven because she was all I needed. Then I lost everything. Forced to live on inside the body of a vampire, I searched for her, knowing she'd return to me in another life. But I finally gave up hope of finding my love, as so many of my fallen brothers had also done. I went dormant; gave over control to my vampire host, Galen - until Reese woke me, and my search began again. But heaven and hell are on the edge of war, and I'm the only one who can stop it.

Totally Ridiculous
Revisado: 08-06-23
To be honest I bought this audiobook because of Will M. Watt. However, even he was unable to save this storyline from disastrous plots, subplots and utterly outlandish characters. I understand this is a "paranormal" romance but to me it seems that instead of the characters being occupied by 2 entities the dialogue felt more like schizophrenics with dual personality disorders. I suffered through chapter 17, fast forwarded to the end in hopes somehow it would all be tied together, but it all ended with some trite platitudes and/or juvenile musings. First book by Ms. Loraine and the last.

Will Watt Rocks!
Revisado: 08-02-23
Will Watt makes this book come alive. I am no fan of Tavia Gilbert and find her histrionic, over the top narration totally distracting and as irritating as nails on a chalk board and . The voice she chose for Bones reminded me of teenage girl and in no way could be considered masculine. I have no idea what she was thinking. Mr. Watt elevates the book from what could be described as milquetoast for hormonal adolescents to full on alpha male, drop my panties for you hot. I hope Ms. Frost rewrites every book from Bones' POV and will gladly pre-order each and every one of them. As long as Will Watt narrates them, of course.

Boring
Revisado: 05-22-23
I had hopes of learning more about Mel, but not to be. Upon learning Mel might be her father Elisa sets out to Bliss with little to no plan, other than to question the community. Of course, they don't trust "outsiders" so this leads nowhere. Then we have Van and Dean, Adam and Jake wannabes, that have no personality or chemistry. Mel has less to do with the story other than give Elisa to arrive in Bliss. I didn't hate it but it did take me a week to get through. Not usual for me at all. So disappointed. Not up to Lexi's usual standards. Very thin plotline that gets summed up near the end by an ancillary character in just one conversation. Not worth the credit.

Dreadful
Revisado: 04-26-23
Where to start. Nonsensical plot. No idea why Waverly is necessary to all the machinations except to give Viktor a love interest. Ridiculous dialogue" I want to eat your eggs".? Humor masquerading as romance? Sorry, just laughable. Last minute character introduction where they arrive without preamble: Grayson, Thea, Sebastian, etc. Who knew there were so many brothers. Ms. Kennicott's narration that fluctuates between boredom, hysteria and bouts of screeching alternating between exaggerated modulation and high volume to indicate emotion? Not for me. At least Ryan West did his best but couldn't save this disaster. I admit to purchasing the Kindle version to see if it was any better. Wasted my money and a credit. I am truly disappointed in this addition to Immortals of New Orleans. Grateful the epilogue didn't inspire me to read the next in line. Cranky, mean Julian just doesn't interest me. "Victor" is far inferior to the rest of the books.

Now, relive the beginning of Cat and Bones' best-selling love story through Bones' point of view, which reveals a darker, sexier take on their early days, as well as a deeper dive into Bones' past, the vampire world, and other things that Cat didn't see, when their story was told only through her eyes in Halfway to the Grave. The best!
Revisado: 07-02-22
I've always thought Bones was a great character but Tavia Gilbert's narration, while adequate, gave him a voice like nails on a chalkboard. Not at all conducive to visualizing the lethal, masculine and sexy vampire Ms. Frost intended. More like Screech from Saved by the Bell came to mind. All is well with Will M. Watt's narration. My only hope is all the Night Huntress books are redone with him as narrator. I will gladly purchase them all again.
