Historia
Why They Stay explores the reasoning and motivation of wives who stay with their politician-husbands after they cheat. Hillary Clinton couldn't have known in 1998 how her husband's high-profile philandering would play out. Would he be rehabilitated in the public eye? She took the gamble. Had she left the marriage, today she might be the spurned wife of a retired politician instead of the first American woman to run for president on a major party ticket.

We all wonder
Revisado: 05-25-18
I enjoyed this book very much. It was well-researched, on a subject so many of us wonder about: ladies who stay with their politically humiliated and compromised husbands. Recent couples in trouble include Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin, and the Clintons. Some of the scandals happened many years ago, and I was not familiar with all of them. The book gives a biography of each person, and the history of the couples' relationships, as well as details of the scandals. But it was not salacious or unduly graphic. The narrator, Sara Morsey, gave a rich reading of the book, suitable to the subject.

Historia
In the most extraordinary journey Ann Rule has ever undertaken, America's master of true crime has spent more than two decades researching the story of the Green River Killer, who murdered more than 49 young women. Green River, Running Red is a harrowing account of a modern monster, a killer who walked among us undetected. It is also the story of his quarry -- of who these young women were and who they might have become.

Green River Victims
Revisado: 02-20-18
Ann Rule is always a dependable author of true crime stories, I'm a big fan. She does her research. This book focuses more on the victims of the Green River Killer than the killer himself, a little different from her usual method. It's very interesting, and sad, to read about the young women/girls whose lives were snuffed out before they had had a chance to live. The detectives' jobs are also detailed, with the paths they take, the suspects they interview, trying to distinguish patterns in methods and victims. The narrator to me sounded a little like Ann Rule, and that made the book a pleasure to listen to.

Honesty
Revisado: 01-12-18
What did you love best about Self-Esteem for Losers?
I liked how the emphasis is not on changing yourself, but being honest with yourself. The author's ideas are doable for everyone, not too lofty.
What did you like best about this story?
There are a few easy exercises to encourage looking at the things you do in a better light and in a different way than you have been. The exercises have you look at your strengths and weaknesses, honestly, to yourself.
What does Damien Brunetto bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narrator's voice is soothing, yet upbeat to match the book.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The author's anecdote about having his child sit on the floor was funny and memorable.
Any additional comments?
I found this book to be a good road map to self-esteem. It's not too long, the text is snappy and helpful.

Not just for Yankees
Revisado: 09-22-15
What did you love best about Yankee, Go Home?
It's a great fish-out-of-water story about a young Yankee woman's experiences living in the South. As a Yankee myself, I found it easy to identify with the writer, and her descriptions of the people she meets and unexpected things that happen in her life there. She manages to keep her sense of humor no matter what. She clearly learns to love her new home, quirks and all. I thought it was a very positive look at culture differences.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Yankee, Go Home?
The chapter in which the writer deals with bugs is memorable. She dealt with the problem with a lot of thought and fortitude.
Any additional comments?
The narration is wonderful, very pleasant to listen to. The narrator's voice enhances the book, and doesn't get in the way of the story.
