Historia
FitzChivalry - royal bastard and former king’s assassin - has left his life of intrigue behind. As far as the rest of the world knows, FitzChivalry Farseer is dead and buried. Masquerading as Tom Badgerlock, Fitz is now married to his childhood sweetheart, Molly, and leading the quiet life of a country squire. Though Fitz is haunted by the disappearance of the Fool, who did so much to shape Fitz into the man he has become, such private hurts are put aside in the business of daily life, at least until the appearance of menacing, pale-skinned strangers casts a sinister shadow over Fitz’s past...and his future.

Confusing
Revisado: 09-26-18
My life is a bit stressful at this time and may be a contributing factor to my dislike to the start of this book. I didn’t even get through the second chapter. There was too much material, too much character descriptions for me to comfortably take in and follow. It all just seemed chaotic.

For the first time since the death of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a new Holmes story has been sanctioned by his estate, whetting the appetites of fans everywhere. Good Sherlock story with contemporary shading
Revisado: 01-13-12
If you could sum up The House of Silk in three words, what would they be?
I liked the book, even can say I enjoyed the book. Is is a great book? I would say no,but there are too few great books. I would agree with the advertising for this story that it is in the characterization of the original stories. However the narative and opinions of Dr Watson is more contemporary to our 21st century rather than of the late 1800's.

Every woman sounds like a toothless old crone
Revisado: 09-14-11
Would you try another book from George R. R. Martin and/or Roy Dotrice?
Yes
What other book might you compare A Dance with Dragons to and why?
Wheel of Time series in that it is longer than it needs to be.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Roy Dotrice?
Should be shared with a female narrator.
Was A Dance with Dragons worth the listening time?
Sort of
Any additional comments?
Roy Dotrice's portrayal of the women in the story had them all sounding like toothless old crones. A woman narrator to share the female characters would have been a emense improvement in the expierence.

Historia
Four United States presidents have been assassinated - in 1865, 1881, 1901, and 1963 - each murder seemingly unrelated and separated by time. But what if those presidents were all killed for the same reason: a clause in the United States Constitution - contained within Article 1, Section 8 - that would shock Americans? This question is what faces former Justice Department operative Cotton Malone in his latest adventure. When a bold assassination attempt is made against President Danny Daniels in the heart of Manhattan, Malone risks his life to foil the killing....

Glad to get it over with
Revisado: 06-17-11
The plot sounded interesting. The story telling was not. The characters came across like some grade B movie, having no depth. Bad guys are bad, good guys are good with not much else provided by the author.
Did not enjoy the constant moving from one of several centeral characters to another. I think this was to try and create a sense of action and fast pace, in my mind it did not succed. This is a dull and tediuos book.
I like comic books, but this was a bad and poorly dramatically drawn comic book.

OK, and Good but no superlatives
Revisado: 10-04-10
Hero is a likeable guy who deals with life stresses with sarchasm. The villan is a not so likeable guy but author creates a person you can sympathize with a little for what drove him to his depravity. It comes across as a typical good vs evil story. Nothing really gets you excited about the story. It is easy to remain detached and let the plot play out pretty much as you would expect. It's a good book but not memorable.

Historia
The year is 2380. The Intersolar Commonwealth, a sphere of stars some 400 light-years in diameter, contains more than 600 worlds, interconnected by a web of transport "tunnels" known as wormholes. At the farthest edge of the Commonwealth, astronomer Dudley Bose observes the impossible: Over 1,000 light-years away, a star...vanishes. It does not go supernova. It does not collapse into a black hole. It simply disappears.

Way too much detail while providing very few clues as to it's importance. Would have given it a zero but one was as low as the system allows.

Historia
With an ailing mother to care for, Lisa Grant takes the first job she can find: research assistant to District Attorney Scott Buchanan. What Lisa expects to be a mind-numbingly boring task turns into anything but when a missing-persons case draws her attention. The details of the case are engrossing: an entire family — father, mother, and two children — disappeared without a trace more than 28 years ago. Except that’s not all: the mother in a photo Lisa finds could be her own twin.

First and Last
Revisado: 08-23-10
Book is a bit interesting as far the the outline of story goes. It is the amount of needless narrative and the overstatement of the obvious that wears on the listener. This was my first and will be my last Karen Robards novel, until she progresses significantly in her craft as a novelist.

A Pleasant Surprise
Revisado: 11-20-09
I have always enjoyed the Wheel of Time books. This book is the product of a wonderfull colaboration. The ideas and direction which Robert Jordan constructed. Then we have Brandon Sanderson who does not have to work so hard on the overall book as Mr Jordan has laid the ground work. Mr Sanderson puts his skills into refining the prose into a more polished literary jewel. This was a very enjoyable listen.

I had hoped for more, but the author has hope
Revisado: 01-12-09
I had hoped for a good story, with interesting characters where the author also provides a painless education on physics. The story and character were acceptable but not memorable. I did not mind giving it the time to finish the book. The information on physics, quantum or classical was not giving the attention I would have thought a story that is based on a supposed secret unified theory by Einstine should have been given. An average book.

What a waste of time
Revisado: 12-16-08
A rating of one is too high for this book. I am amazed that people can write that this is a good book. It is is not. If you read about the disappointing ending, you need to think that the ending is the proper ending to this book. It leaves you stunned, thinking what just happened and where have the wasted hours of my life gone, that I have given to this collection of sentences.
