Would you consider the audio edition of The Man Who Holds the Whip to be better than the print version?

I would definitely consider the audio edition of this novella to be better/preferred to the print version. Scarlett Day's narration alone makes the story come to life. I could never have seen what the author, Shoshanna Evers, wanted me to without her guiding me through it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved Grace from the beginning! I loved Ian also, but it wasn't until he started to show his protectiveness, jealousy, and dominance for Grace. Grace and Ian both still cared for each other, but Grace was the one who reached out first. She also committed to learning a new lifestyle just to be with Ian. Even though, she is considered the "submissive" in their relationship she is still lively, opinionated, and never hesitates to tell Ian what she thinks.

Which character – as performed by Scarlett Day – was your favorite?

Scarlett Day did a wonderful job portraying both Grace and Ian without having to overcompensate for the male POV or the SUPER STEAMY scenes, I was very impressed! Sometimes a narrator's "sexy scenes" can be over the top and make you blush because you feel uncomfortable (bad) for them trying to narrate something they obviously are not comfortable doing. This is definitely not the case for Scarlett, thank goodness.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I really enjoyed "The Man Who Holds the Whip" for two main reasons. One being, that even though it is a short novella, Shoshanna does not waste a second getting to the point and down to business. The second being, when the story ended I did not feel like I was unsatisfied or missing anything with the characters and story line, which in my opinion, is very hard for a lot of authors to accomplish, especially in one novella. I am not saying I wouldn't love to hear more about these characters in the future, I would love an update of "their journey" in the future, if you know what I mean! ;) Great Job Shoshanna and Scarlett!

Strong & SEXY BW/WM Romance w/ HEA!

What made the experience of listening to Kiss of Ice the most enjoyable?

I loved how the two main characters, Annata and Christophe, were both two strong willed characters! Most authors don't and make them the opposite to keep things interesting, but Lavender and Lynn definitely made this dynamic work! At the beginning I didn't think that they would ever stop butting heads and that no matter what poor Christy did, he couldn't win for losing, his fault or not! I won't even go into the sexual tension between the two of them, I will say I could feel it from the first moment to the last! :) I really admired Annata for fighting for all she worked so hard to achieve, no matter how much she loved Christy. Thank God Christy was smart enough to know Annata well enough not to push her too hard, even when his father makes him look like the bad guy. I was very impressed that the first book in this series, which could also be read as a stand alone novel, had a happily ever after ending and kept me interested and guessing until the very end. A lot of authors these days cannot achieve one or both of those. Lynn did a wonderful job portraying Lavender's characters and the story line. I felt for both Annata and Christophe and was routing for them the entire time! I can't wait for the next book to come out! I'm sure Toni's story will be just as exciting, seeing some of the drama she caused in this book!

What other book might you compare Kiss of Ice to and why?

This series could be categorized under BW/WM Contemporary Romance, but also Mature or Adult Romance. I was pleasantly surprised that the BW/WM is not over the top, even considering Annata's powerful character. So, even if you don't usually care for the genre, you will enjoy this book (and series) if you like any steamy romance novels!

Have you listened to any of Lynn Barrington’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Lynn's performance in "Kiss of Ice" is as amazing, as in all of her other audiobooks! If anything I would say that she portrayed a strong-willed African American woman flawlessly. If I didn't know better, I never would have guessed she wasn't exactly like the characters she portrayed! If you haven't listened to any of her work you definitely should, or if you are looking for a narrator that can preform from one end of the spectrum to another, while keeping the audience involved and interested, she's your go to narrator!

Emotional Journey of a Lifetime!!

Which character – as performed by Lynn Barrington – was your favorite?

I loved the way she portrayed Damian and Alexis! I could feel everything they felt! It was a roller coaster ride for sure, but I would get right back on it! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and couldn't stop listening!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Completely enthralling! I was biting my nails the whole time, even from the opening sentence! I had no idea what was going to happen and I thought about skipping to the end for spoilers so I could relax but, I refrained myself, to get the full effect of the book and let Lynn take me on the emotional journey of a lifetime! I can honestly say I have never felt so wound up and invested in an audiobook or their characters! I wanted to cry, laugh, and occasionally throw something right along with Damian and Alexis!

Any additional comments?

There were so many twists and turns and ups and downs in this book, compared to the first ("Damian" also narrated by Lynn), I never could have imagined. I love how Jessica Wood and Lynn Barrington caught us by the heartstrings in the first book, just wanting Alexis and Damian to have their "Happily Ever After", but in this book they brought in so much more depth and it wasn't at all just about Alexis taming Damian, (no) PUN intended. The whole time I was thinking that everything was going to end up one way, while praying that it didn't, and then, BOOM, they threw me through another loop! Throughout almost the whole book, I wanted to yell at Alexis to just stop, where in the first book it was mainly directed towards Damian, but as the book progressed and some of the puzzle pieces started to fit together, I could sympathize and understand why she felt she had to handle things the way she did. I was also very impressed with how Damian handled his "issues" mostly on his own and ended up being one of my favorite "book boyfriends" of all time!! Thank you and Way to go Jessica and Lynn!!

Wow! I am in LOVE with this book/series!! Who can resist a bad boy who finally finds real feelings for someone... And you know there will be freak outs, trials and tribulations, and most definitely realizations. As in most books the "bad boy" meets an "innocent beauty" and even though they both feel the instant attraction and pull, they must work through their issues to find true love and happiness. I was immediately hooked by the narrators tone and ease of storytelling but keeping you hooked until the last word. I also loved the way we heard both Damian's and Alexis's POV! And yet there is still a prequel and sequel available NOW and not a year or more from now!! I know that some authors feel the "cliffhanger" will keep you wanting for more and the longer they wait the bigger the buildup will be, but I love listening to them all one after the other. I think that the main characters are both lovable and relatable a lot of that comes from the narrators ability to keep you interested and really feel what the author intended. I would definitely read/listen to more of Jessica Wood's books and I will listen to any audios that Lynn Barrington narrates in the future! I am looking forward to reading/listening to the next 2 books in the series and I hope that Lynn narrates them also!! It wouldn't be right, not to mention confusing, if she didn't!
