A kid walks into your bookstore and says to you, Guess what? I'm your son. The one you put up for adoption seventeen years ago. The one you never told anyone about. Surprise! His name is Matthew Walker, and he's come to spend the summer on the Cape with his parents. Why? Well, he wants to meet you before he heads off to college in the fall. Tiny detail—he didn't tell his adoptive parents about his plan. And while you hoped this day would come someday, you're so stunned, you actually faint.

Lovely and from the Heart
Revisado: 06-11-23
Another wonderful book from KH, filled with sweet moments, personal growth and humor. I love that her characters are never the same at the end of the book. They learn and grow, and you get to know them so well. incredible narration, per usual, by Xe Sands. This one really touched my heart.

Historia
Lillie Silva knew life as an empty nester would be hard after her only child left for college, but when her husband abruptly dumps her for another woman just as her son leaves, her world comes crashing down. Besides the fact that this announcement is a complete surprise (to say the least), what shocks Lillie most is that she isn't...heartbroken. She's furious. Lillie has loved her life on Cape Cod, but as a mother, wife and nurse-midwife, she's used to caring for other people...not taking care of herself.

Wow. This was a thrill ride of a book. Great plot and writing, narrated to perfection by multiple narrators...which makes it easy to follow the action. I don't normally read what I would call "action" books, but I'm a convert now. Looking forward to future endeavors with JP and WJC. I hope there's lots more in the works.

Historia
We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity and impartiality are the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the orderly and efficient flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe? It’s rare, but it happens. Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. She is a lawyer, not a cop, and it is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct.

All the things you love about John Grisham in a tidy book. Fast paced, twists and turns, lots of detail, likeable characters, and some super not-likeable. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

Strange but ok
Revisado: 07-22-21
I'm not quite understanding the rave reviews I've read on this series. I loved previous books by MS. And I read all 3 of the Sisters books (this is the 3rd). The plot is charming, and I even like all of the final resolutions. But the romances all seemed kind of blah and not really even fleshed out (no pun intended). Allie and Nick, her daughter, are the best characters. Allie has the most growth. I was proud of her. Frankly, I thought her sisters were mean to her. I'm glad I read them. But these are not MS's best.

Last year, Rachel Bacharach met the man of her dreams at a Hanukkah party — and then her outgoing best friend Tamara swooped in and “called” Oz Caplan for herself. It’s a typical outcome for the dependable, bookish Rachel, who is never able to extinguish the spark she immediately felt for Oz. But being secretly in love with her best friend’s boyfriend all year hasn’t been easy.

Very sweet story set in Manhattan. I loved the two narrators...very appealing voices. You don't often hear good Jewish setting romances. So this was diverse and welcome. Also loved the maturity of the characters.

Historia
In seaside Blueberry Cove, Maine, friends are just another word for family, and big-city politics take a backseat to local pride. But the real treasure on these shores is always love.... When DC lawyer Hannah McCrae heads home for her brother's wedding, she's dragging a lot of baggage along with her - and she doesn't mean suitcases. Betrayed personally and humiliated professionally, the last thing she wants is a new man. That's fine with square-jawed, rugged contractor Calder Blue.

Donna Kauffman is new to me, and i gave this book a shot. I was delighted. A good story, well read. Lots of detail in the story...and one of the best sexy time scenes I've ever read. You genuinely felt the couple get to know each other. I was very happy with this choice.
