There was an old, poor fisherman who cast his net four times a day and only four times. One day he went to the shore and cast his net. When he tried to pull it up, he found it to be heavy. When he dove in and pulled up the net, he found a dead donkey in it. Then he cast his net again and netted a pitcher full of dirt. Then he cast his net for a third time and netted shards of pottery and glass.

There is no ending. It just stops. Strange. I bought this version of the story after listening to the same on for free on Audible Plus. I thought it would include the ending but it does not

The story didn’t even end and the narrator is horrible

First of all, there is no end. It just stops…
Secondly, the narrator is the worst. I cranked the speed to x1.3 which improved it somewhat but still, why would anyone hire this person to narrate any story.
Now I have to figure out what he book has the ending of this story. Hopefully there will be a different narrator. Silver lining

Finally just gave up

I gave this book my best shot and gave up after 4 hours. The story is interesting but there are just too many characters with complicated names (as well as nicknames) to try to keep track of. I tried to not worry too much about this but then found myself only half listening. Since this book is 14 hours long and the first of three other books (each just as long), I’ve decided to stop. If you are good with names you will probably enjoy the book. It is very well narrated.

A pleasure to listen to John Cleese

I enjoyed this audible book very much. Mr Cleese spends a lot of time name-dropping but other than that it’s very entertaining. Someone who knows more about British comedy and the main players will most likely enjoy it more than I did but that’s ok. Still a good listen.
