Blaze and Harlow. I don’t know how A.K. Evans does it, but she manages to suck me in with characters I become so friggin’ invested in. Like his Harper Security Ops brethren, Blaze’s inner gorgeousness somehow manages to eclipse his absolute hotness. And sweet, hardworking Harlow is a woman we all wish would be our bestie. Engaging, relatable characters, great plot with a bit of suspense, and all the sizzle and steam we could want in a love story, brought to life in a really good performance by new-to-me narrators JF Harding and Melissa Moran. Just once reason to love all things A.K. Evans!

Rex and Raven are reconnected in the culmination of the Mountain Mercenaries series by Susan Stoker. In a great performance by Stella Bloom, Stoker wraps up the series while weaving in all of the characters and packing a punch with the danger and action. Although this one is definitely a slow-burn for specific reasons, there is no lack of chemistry. Sadly, I was a little bummed that I easily figure out a few important details in the plot; however, the story was good, and it was an excellent way to tie up the loose ends in the series.

Zara and Meat come together in the sixth book in Susan Stoker's Mountain Mercenaries series of romantic suspense. In the barrios of Peru, Meat and the rest of the team encounter corruption, abject poverty, and danger around every corner as they attempt to dismantle a sex trafficking ring that targets women and children. In light of everything, Zara, who was lost to the streets of Lima as a child when her parents were murdered, connects with Meat, returns to the U.S., and tries to build a life in a place she barely remembers. Their courtship is sweet, and the bad guys are hidden in plain sight in this one. Stella Bloom gives a solid performance in narrating Zara's vulnerability and hidden steely backbone along with the rest of the Mercenaries. The only downside was that the big twist late in the story (at least for me) was actually pretty predictable, so that was a bit of a bummer. Other than that, it was a pretty cool story.

This Mountain Mercenaries story was an intense one!!! I'm not sure how Susan Stoker conjures up such depravity in her villains, but this one was as sinister as they come. Narrated by Stella Bloom, who did a great job bringing out all the feels for the characters, the story was well-developed and pack with powerful emotions. Everly and Ball start out pretty rocky, but through kidnappings, investigations, and helping Everly's deaf, teenaged sister heal, they find their way to each other and become one of Stoker's strongest couples in the series (in my opinion).

Defending Harlow is the fourth book in the Mountain Mercenaries series by Susan Stoker. Narrated by Stella Bloom, the story reconnects high school friends in a dangerous and suspenseful situation, and I really like Harlow and Black as a couple. Black is not your typical mercenary book boyfriend at only 5'9", but what he lacks in stature, he more than makes up for in strength, determination, and heart. He and Harlow complement each other well, and Harlow finds an inner strength she didn't know she had. I really love the undertone of body positivity here - not just with Black, but with the gorgeously full-figured Harlow.

Defending Morgan, Book 3 of the Mountain Mercenaries series by Susan Stoker and narrated once again by Stella Bloom, dives into the horrifying world of human sex trafficking. There is a whole lot of danger in this one, along with an intense attraction between Morgan and Arrow, and you can't help but cheer for their HEA. Probably my favorite in the series at this point!

Defending Chloe is Book 2 of the Mountain Mercenaries series by Susan Stoker, and it throws in all the suspense, mob-themed intrigue, and steamy heat we expect in the series. Bloom brings all the emotion into the story, including that oozing vileness in the depraved enemy of the Mountain Mercenaries. Really great work!

The Mountain Mercenaries are introduced in this story that is narrated by Stella Bloom. Allye and Grey come together under dangerous and unusual circumstances, but their love story unfolds right along with the suspense and intrigue in the story. It was a good story, and Bloom is a talented narrator. I enjoyed my first Susan Stoker story!

“Caution,” a new story in A.K. Evans’s Harper Security Ops series, is probably one of the sweetest in the series, and I mean that in a good way! Forrest and Daisy, brought to life in excellent performances by Connor Crais (OMG, that VOICE!) and Ava Erickson, bring all the steam, chemistry, and that amazing feeling of watching two people fall in love right before your eyes. Forrest is such a special character, and Crais emoted all the confidence, tenderness, and everything good in a book boyfriend throughout the story. Daisy’s vulnerability, humility, and goodness shine through Erickson’s beautiful voice, and it truly made this story—with all the hallmarks of an EXCELLENT A.K. Evans romance—even more special than it already was. All kinds of stars here, Ms. Evans!

Oh my goodness!!! Wyatt and Rhea are amazing together in A.K. Evans’s “Stubborn Heart” (The Westwoods Book 1). Brought to life by Aaron Shedlock (LOVE him!!!) and Kit Swann, this story is sweet, steamy, and an excellent way to kick off the new generation of Westwoods. Rhea is smart and stubborn, but she meets her match in Wyatt, a rich, driven, yet adorably sweet, businessman with a heart of gold. Shedlock and Swann bring out all the emotion in the characters which really added to the storytelling experience for me! Really looking forward to the next installment!
