Historia
From trips on private jets and encounters with world leaders to shocking accounts of misogyny and double standards behind the scenes, this searing memoir exposes both the personal and the political fallout when unfettered power and a rotten company culture take hold. In a gripping and often absurd narrative where a few people carelessly hold the world in their hands, this eye-opening memoir reveals what really goes on among the global elite.

An insider view of how Facebook has evolved to its position of influence.
Revisado: 04-08-25
This book gives you a chance to learn about the inner workings of Facebook, with all the mundane, sad, incredible, and insipid details of the people involved at the top. This is book is a must listen & entirely consistent with other reporting on Facebook. While you might question the author’s role in this, remember that sometimes witnesses are not entirely innocent. Their accounts are still worth hearing.

Ray Dalio does not want you to listen to this audiobook. Late last year, when the billionaire founder of Bridgewater Associates, the largest hedge fund on the planet, announced that he was stepping down from the company he started out of his apartment nearly 50 years ago, the news made headlines around the world. Dalio cultivated an aura of international admiration and fame thanks to his company’s eye-popping success, coupled with a mystique he encouraged with frequent media appearances, celebrity hobnobbing, and his bestselling book, Principles.

Definitive History of Bridgewater
Revisado: 01-20-24
This is an exceptional and fascinating book that reveals a deeply flawed culture that existed for decades at Bridgewater Associates. The book has been very carefully researched and reported. The author should be commended for his determination and bravery, despite ongoing counter programming and attacks by the publicity seeking Bridgewater founder. The book also shows the extent to which our media and institutions unjustifiably lionize the richest amongst us. This is a must read.

Historia
Making a living reproducing famous artworks for a popular online retailer and desperate to improve her situation, Claire is lured into a Faustian bargain with Aiden Markel, a powerful gallery owner. She agrees to forge a painting - a Degas masterpiece stolen from the Gardner Museum - in exchange for a one-woman show in his renowned gallery. But when that very same long-missing Degas painting is delivered to Claire's studio, she begins to suspect that it may itself be a forgery. Her desperate search for the truth leads Claire into a labyrinth of deceit where secrets hidden since the late 19th century may be the only evidence that can now save her life.

Not really worth the time. Sorry!
Revisado: 04-04-17
Would you try another book from B. A. Shapiro and/or Xe Sands?
No. This author overwrites. Instead of offering information and allowing readers to make the connections, she feels the need to state the obvious.Sometimes over and over. The main character is also incredibly annoying. She is supposed to be a brilliant artist/forger. But she whines very often like a naive little girl who can't seem to understand that prisons are dangerous and that people lie and that her depressed lover might commit suicide if she exposes him as a fraud. Just dumb.
What could B. A. Shapiro have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Treat the readers like adults. Let them make their own connections. And get rid of all of the "oh, I am so afraid" stuff. Boring. Boring. Boring. What was interesting, and what she did well, as some of the explanations about historic art work and the love of Degas works.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narrator was fine. It is not her fault that the story was lame.
Do you think The Art Forger needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Nope.
Any additional comments?
I am sorry. I wanted to like this book. But it is ridiculous. The main character paints a picture for her first lover knowing that he will pass it off as his own. Then, she is angry that he passes it off as his own. So, she outs him. She is surprised when he kills himself. Then, she agrees to forge a painting for a guy she starts sleeping with, and when it goes wrong, she confesses and is then surprised when people try to throw her in jail instead of taking her at her word. Seriously? It is like she is a four year old who never learns.

Historia
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.
