Historia
When President Geoffrey Hilliard’s son Cam, a 16-year-old chess champion, experiences extreme fatigue, moodiness, and an uncharacteristic violent outburst, doctors are quick to dismiss his troubles as teen angst. But Secret Service agent Karen Ray summons her physician ex-husband for a second opinion. Dr. Lee Blackwood’s concerns are dismissed by the president's team - until Cam gets sicker. Lee must make a diagnosis from a puzzling array of symptoms he's never seen before. His only clue is a patient named Susie Banks, a young musical prodigy who seems to be suffering from the same baffling condition as Cam.

Fun story
Revisado: 06-10-19
I really, really wish the narrator would have found out how to pronounce myoclonus before narrating this book. It took me out of the story. It was fun, and the twist was pretty good. I'm not sure I'd ever listen to a medical thriller with this narrator again though.

Historia
The philosopher asks: "Faced with the mutually exclusive choice between moral principle and the survival of your family, which is the correct path?" Philosophers love to pose such questions, and in the day-to-day struggle, such thinkers rarely attain to a level of relevance rivaling that of the simple hunger pang. Their careful considerations dissipate under the leveled gun. We do not feel their disapproving gaze when The Others draw near. When the world sends doom, the survivors do not hesitate. The survivors do what is necessary.

awesome and unique series.
Revisado: 05-22-19
the characters are real and multidimensional, even the villains (who you end up rooting for half the time), the plot is fantastic, and it's a fun read. the narrator is fantastic. Id be satisfied if this were the end of the story, but I really hope there's more.

Getting better
Revisado: 03-05-17
The author is obviously getting better in this sequel. It has more depth than the first book while maintaining the good action and overall theming. I'm excited to read the next. Still a little struggle with prejudice, but it's actually pretty cool to read the opening of the author's perspective.

Decent listen
Revisado: 03-01-17
This is an entertaining book, but clumsily written. The author seems to struggle to remain in one point of view. The main character is pretty awful. In his view women are one step above useless at best, and poor people are mostly inept murderers who feel entitled to handouts. You get the feeling the author probably talks a lot about the mainstream media, second amendment rights, and bootstraps in real life. If there's a character the main character doesn't like, they'll be killed off pretty quickly, while those he does like have some amazing plot armor, in one case literally. That being said, it's fun to listen to, and I'm going to get the sequels. The plot moves well, the ideas for survival are cool, and the premise is good overall. The narrator is fabulous as well.

Historia
Born to a prominent Chicago judge and his stifled socialite wife, Mia Dennett moves against the grain as a young inner-city art teacher. One night, Mia enters a bar to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when he doesn't show, she unwisely leaves with an enigmatic stranger. With his smooth moves and modest wit, Colin Thatcher seems at first like a safe one-night stand. But following Colin home will turn out to be the worst mistake of Mia's life.

Good, but a little predictable
Revisado: 03-01-16
I enjoyed this book. I had the ending figured out about half way in, and I am usually really terrible at guessing. If you aren't, you might find it too obvious to be enjoyable. Still, it was entertaining. I didn't care for the British woman narrator. Her own voice is fine, but her voices fire the other characters were awful and sort of ruined some poignant moments. The other narrators were great.

Historia
From the former communications director for the White House and current political media strategist comes a suspenseful and smart novel about the first female president and all dramas and deceptions she faces both in politics and in love. Eighteen Acres, a description used by political insiders when referring to the White House complex, follows the first female President of the United States, Charlotte Kramer, and her staff as they take on dangerous threats.

Good story, not the best narrator
Revisado: 07-09-14
I enjoyed the story. The characters were all very likable and the plot moved along well. Not the most exciting or interesting book I've read lately, but I don't feel like I wasted a credit.
I was distracted by the narrator's tendency to slip into a southern accent for the president. The book states the woman is from California, and she doesn't maintain the accent throughout the book, so I was annoyed whenever that drawl would appear,
