Historia
On August 20, 1942, twelve Marine dive-bombers and nineteen Marine fighters landed at Guadalcanal. Their mission: defeat the Japanese navy and prevent it from sending more men and supplies to "Starvation Island," as Guadalcanal was nicknamed. The Japanese were turning the remote, jungle-covered mountain in the south Solomon Islands into an air base from which they could attack the supply lines between the U.S. and Australia.

Fake News at its Worst
Revisado: 03-20-25
A superbly written, exquisitely researched account of one of the most egregiously, patently false acts of rotten journalism ever committed. The author, a Marine Cobra Pilot, flew during Operation Tailwind and knows, first hand, the truth of that mission. He begins the book with a description of his climb, from youth to his Gold Wings of a Naval (Marine) Aviator and into the cockpit of an AH-1G Cobra attack helicopter (a climb with which this retired Marine Cobra Pilot is intimately familiar. He goes on to describe his tour in Vietnam that culminates in that action in Laos in 1970, during which a Studies and Observation Group company (Hatchet Force) serves as a diversion for a larger CIA operation. One can feel the action as he puts you into his aircraft and flies you through the intense anti-aircraft fire, listening to the radio traffic between the SOG Company Commander and the USAF Forward Air Controller, and firing rockets, mini-gun, and 40mm grenade launcher rounds to protect the extraction Heavy-Lift CH-53s as they attempt, then finally succeed, in extracting the SOG force. Barry then moves to that journalistic travesty, “Valley of Death.” Reading this will not only set the record straight about that operation, but, perhaps, provide insight into the biased journalistic malfeasance we experience today. Definitely a “must read.”

Historia
The Battle of Quang Tri documents the Easter Offensive of 1972...…a pivotal battle in the final years of the Vietnam War. With minimal US Forces remaining in Vietnam, the task of stopping the invasion fell to the shoulders of a handful of military advisors and aviation crews who had to rally their Vietnamese counterparts to stop an invasion, or the war would be lost.

Superb Account of a Critical, If Unsung Phase of the Vietnam War
Revisado: 03-12-25
Spellbinding account of the NVA invasion of South Vietnam, Easter, 1972. The war seemed to be over. Units were standing down to go home. All but one US ground-force unit had already left. Army Aviation units were planning to close up and ship home. That was the prevailing feeling until the NVA artillery opened up on the city of Quang Tri and fire bases throughout the northern part of South Vietnam. I was there. My experience of launching in a Huey helicopter was breathtakingly captured by the author, himself an Army Aviator. For me, it brought back memories long suppressed, and filled in the gaps in my knowledge of those events. The author’s research is meticulous and accurate. He captures the tone and feeling of that dangerous time as only a seasoned writer and combat helicopter pilot can. This is the real deal. Please read/listen to this so that you can understand what we, the final leftovers of that war, went through and some, died for.

Historia
The War on Warriors uncovers the deep roots of our dysfunction—a society that has forgotten the men who take risks, cut through red tape, and get their hands dirty. The only kind of men prepared to face the dangers that the Left pretends don’t exist. Unlike issues of education or taxes or crime, this problem doesn’t have a zip code solution. We can’t move away from it. We can’t avoid it. We have only one Pentagon. Either we take it back or surrender it altogether.

Historia
In one of the most compelling combat narratives ever written, Staff Sergeant David Bellavia, an Army infantry platoon leader in Iraq, gives a teeth-rattling, first-hand account of 11 straight days of heavy house-to-house fighting during the climactic second battle of Fallujah. His actions in the firefight, which included killing five insurgents in hand-to-hand combat, earned Bellavia the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, and New York state's highest military honor, the Conspicuous Service Cross.

Historia
Seven minutes past midnight on March 10, 1945, nearly 300 American B-29s thundered into the skies over Tokyo. Their payloads of incendiaries ignited a firestorm that reached up to 2,800 degrees, liquefying asphalt and vaporizing thousands; sixteen square miles of the city were flattened and more than 100,000 men, women, and children were killed. Black Snow is the story of this devastating operation, orchestrated by Major General Curtis LeMay, who famously remarked: "If we lose the war, we'll be tried as war criminals."

Historia
During the third week of February 1944, the combined Allied air forces based in Britain and Italy launched their first round-the-clock bomber offensive against Germany. Their goal: to smash the main factories and production centers of the Luftwaffe while also drawing German planes into an aerial battle of attrition to neutralize the Luftwaffe as a fighting force prior to the cross-channel invasion, planned for a few months later. Officially called Operation ARGUMENT, this aerial offensive quickly became known as “Big Week,” and it was one of the turning-points of World War II.

This audio book is critical to understanding what is going on in Israel post 7 October. A powerful, fully engaging account of the founding of the State of Israel. If you only read/listen to one account, this is the one, a powerful story powerfully told. I have been listening to audio books for a number of years. This narration is absolutely THE BEST.
