Historia
Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

Not as creative as original Oz books
Revisado: 02-18-25
L. Frank Baum was astonishingly creative.
In Wicked, Maguire just relies on sensational, salacious details that bog down the story.
The musical was an abridgment of this story so it was more fun.
I’m not even sure I can finish the story and will probably return it and get my credit back.
There are SO many more captivating characters and plots in Baum’s stories.
I don’t understand why Wicked is such a popular work, but that’s what keeps writers writing!
Not everyone likes the same thing.

Great narration!
Revisado: 01-30-22
I must speak up for the amazing narrator!
She is outstanding and doesn’t deserve the criticism based on unfair comparison to the previous, dearly missed, amazing narrator.
These books are charming as always. More please and bring the Lab puppies into the story! I breed Labs and that’s the only thing missing from the series.

I love the earlier Cat Who books.
There are many titles from the beginning of this series unavailable on Audible.
They are read by George Guidall and provide the backstory to Qwilleran, Koko & Yum Yum. I used to get them on cassette tapes from my bookmobile.
Please, please Audible, provide them to a very long time fam of this series.
They are vintage classics!

A discovery of mediocrity
Revisado: 01-05-13
What would have made A Discovery of Witches better?
A heroine who is as smart as the author tells us she is.
What could Deborah Harkness have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The heroine seems so unable to feed or care for herself and needs rescuing from her supernatural boyfriend.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Jennifer Ikeda?
Her voice was nice.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Dissapointment since the reviews raved about this one.
