Very informative
Revisado: 12-07-21
I think the review that said it was ego driven by the author was way of base. I never heard him inject himself into the story unless it was necessary to explain the circumstances. I know of nearly all of the cases in the book however there are details I didn’t know. Very well written, I recommend this book. I almost didn’t get it because of that bad review about ego, I am glad I didn’t listen to that review.

Historia
Tired of the pace and noise of life near London and longing for a better place to raise their young children, Mary J. MacLeod and her husband, George, encountered their dream while vacationing on a remote island in the Scottish Hebrides. Enthralled by its windswept beauty, they soon were the proud and startled owners of a near-derelict croft house - a farmer’s stone cottage - on “a small acre” of land. Mary assumed duties as the island’s district nurse.

A wonderful peek into life on a remote island in Scotland
Revisado: 04-29-21
If you are curious about lifestyles of different cultures this is the book you won’t want to miss. It is a true story of a village of people living in a part of the world most will probably never see. It is so well written it’s easy to imagine you are right there, one of the residents of this charming place The book is written by a nurse that relocated to a place she always wanted to live. The island is so remote that there is no hospital and one doctor that comes in when needed, but the bulk of medical care falls to the nurse. You get to know very well the people that reside there. You are made to feel part of the community. Brilliantly written! It won’t disappoint IMHO!

Historia
The decline and fall of Rudy Giuliani, from “America’s Mayor” to public spectacle, has all the makings of a modern Shakespearean tragedy. Those who know Giuliani, whose tough leadership and even tougher politics helped revitalize New York City in the 1990s and lead the country through 9/11, have stood by and watched with incredulity as he put himself at the heart of impeachment charges against the President.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

Entertaining but more importantly this book is extremely informative!
Revisado: 01-25-20
I chose this book because of its setting and it turned out to be amazingly informative. It’s so much more than an interesting novel. In my opinion our educational system would be well served by offering this book to students as a way to glimpse into our social history in a very interesting way. Generally speaking history can be dry an not particularly interesting. This book is anything but dry and boring . I was fortunate to have purchased this read at a discount, however it would have been a bargain at any price. I highly recommend this book to just about anyone. If your preferred genre is fiction, history, or even nonfiction your time and money will be well spent.

Historia
On October 1, 2015, Hurricane Joaquin barreled into the Bermuda Triangle and swallowed the container ship El Faro whole, resulting in the worst American shipping disaster in 35 years. No one could fathom how a vessel equipped with satellite communications and a sophisticated navigation system could suddenly vanish - until now. Relying on hundreds of exclusive interviews with family members and maritime experts, as well as the words of the crew members themselves - whose conversations were captured by the ship’s data recorder - journalist Rachel Slade unravels the mystery.

I really didn’t know what to expect from this book, but it was on sale so I took a shot. I am very glad I did. I didn’t expect anything more than an entertaining book. Boy was I in for a surprise! I walked away with an education. How the author managed to put so much information into such a short span of time while keeping it interesting is pure Genius.

Mac served five years in the army as an infantry officer, with two tours in Afghanistan. He returned with the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, scars that don't tan, and a boat with a big bank loan. This book will have you running the full spectrum of emotions!
Revisado: 08-03-19
I have listened to many Nelson DeMille books , this volume he knocked out of the park. Scott Brick breathes life into each of these carefully crafted characters . I must say this is my favorite by far , from both artists they are true masters of their craft. I caution you however, you will be laughing out loud and if you’re not careful (in the event you’re listening in public) you my be brought to tears. Have tissues at hand . Enjoy ❤️

Historia
Secrets, mistaken identities, surprise revelations, amnesia, locked rooms and locked asylums, and an unorthodox villain made this mystery thriller an instant success when it first appeared in 1860, and it has continued to enthrall ever since. From the hero's foreboding before his arrival at Limmeridge House to the nefarious plot concerning the beautiful Laura, the breathtaking tension of Collins's narrative created a new literary genre of suspense fiction, which profoundly shaped the course of English popular writing.

Nearly everyone enjoys being a voyeur in one way or another. If it’s turning to see a car accident, or listening into a conversation of the couple seated at a table next to you. We get to listen in to a family drama by phone. What an original way to story tell. This has been fascinating. Sorry it was over way too soon.

Revisado: 04-25-19
Wish it didn’t end.
Great book great stories. Easy to see why movies were made from them and why they are classics.
There is a new way to experience these stories thanks to BBC Radio (seriously does anyone make a listen come alive like the British?)
Listening allows a person to imagine the characters and scenes. I believe we have great imaginations and can spin a scene to fit our personal perspectives and not be bound to a movie directors vision.
