Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Best listen in months!
Revisado: 05-08-16
Beautifully written and read. The most insightful record of wartime and postwar Europe I have ever read, wrapped into an emotion filled story. This was
my second listen. Will do so again, in a different season.

Which scene was your favorite?
Anytime Walt and Standing Bear are having a verbal duel.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Read the books! George Guidall makes any video projector look weak.
Any additional comments?
If you haven't read Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire series yet, you are missing the gradual reveal of a new American masterpiece. Take a month off work, read the books in order, and raise your spirits about what remains of the ethical life in America. Don't watch the TV series until you've read ALL the books.

To Don Raymonde Aprile’s children, he was a loyal family member, their father’s adopted “nephew.” To the FBI he was a man who would rather ride his horses than do Mob business. No one knew why Aprile, the last great American don, had adopted Astorre Viola many years before in Sicily; no one suspected how he had carefully trained him...and how, while the don’s children claimed respectable careers in America, Astorre Viola waited for his time to come.

Disjointed
Revisado: 08-21-11
I though I had messed up the download when, in the second part, there began to be references to characters and situations never referred to previously. Perhaps I just jumped into a series in the middle, but if not, this was the most poorly edited book to which I have ever listened.
And where were the "forensics"?
The reader was superb. That was my first experience at listening to a woman read all the parts, including the male parts and do it so convincingly.
When the book ended, all I could think was"What the devil was that?"
