Historia
"Just read your Bible!" The person exclaims during a discussion. But their assumption is the lens through which they've been taught to read the Bible is the way someone just picking up the Bible will read it. When someone picks up the Bible, they engage with ancient writings originally written in another language, in another culture, in another land long ago. This is not a book that someone can simply pick up and receive "Holy Ghost downloads" and understand what the writers are saying. Michael, Jim, and Loren take a look at this rich and challenging book.

Although using distasteful humor at times these guys bring up great points and insight. This is a necessary listen for the fundamentalist believer

If you’re looking for an exegetical analysis, this will not be the book for you. However, if you’re looking for a message that resonates with your heart desire then I think you will find this to be a very good read/listen.

I appreciated Rohr’s insight and gracious criticism of the church. However, if the church doesn’t listen and learn the end will not be good

Historia
At the start of Holy Week, tears streamed down Jesus' face as he cried out, "If only you knew the things that make for peace." From that moment, until a week later when he triumphantly declared, "Peace be with you," Jesus spent each day confronting injustice, calling out oppressors, and contending for peace.

What Jesus was really saying
Revisado: 03-11-24
If there’s only one book you read this year, it should be this one. This time during the Lenten season, it is very appropriate to review what Jesus really accomplished during holy week. I am a prolific reader of many books. This one is beyond recommendation, it changes everything, if we would only consider it, we would change our way of thinking and relating to other people.

Jim is on vacation, so Michael and Loren have a hell of a time discussing hell. This is a hot topic right now as many debate whether hell exists. Isn’t hell central to the Gospel? Is it possible to have a Gospel without hell? What about judgment? Join us for a conversation focused on these burning questions.

I’ve appreciated these podcasts but this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. Michael brings a very good point about future judgment. Relationship is what God is all about. This definitely warrants thought

Every Evangelical needs to read/ listen to this book
Revisado: 06-12-23
I have been troubled by the violence of our nation wondering what is the reason. This book has brought significant evidence. If I may recommend something- please read Jesus for President and Beating Guns. The Church needs to separate herself from politics and violence. I’m a graduate of Liberty University and frankly I’m embarrassed. When are we going to learn the way of the cross?? The world needs to see Jesus, not a reflection of itself

As a follow-up to his best seller The Irresistible Revolution, Claiborne issues a radical manifesto on Christian political imagination—that our hope lies not in partisan options but in Jesus and the incarnation of the church as "set apart" from this world. A thoughtful and lyrical examination of the relationship between faith and allegiance for modern-day saints.

A fresh vision
Revisado: 06-01-23
Shane is definitely a Christian radical. I think a lot of Christians (including myself) voted for Trump because we were sick of stock politicians. Unfortunately what we got was an egomaniac who manipulated evangelicals. We need a radical Christian perspective. It’s time to divorce ourselves from the Empire. Choose this day whom you will serve. If Christ, expect to pay the price. My only complaint about the book is the music. Sorry Shane.

Historia
Why did Jesus die? Did Jesus die so that God could forgive us for our sins? Many believe so. The most ancient view of the atonement teaches that Jesus did not die to appease the wrath of God or gain forgiveness for human sin, but rather to defeat sin, death, and the devil, and reveal to us the unconditional love and grace of God.

Historia
Life throws us “curve balls”—from devastating personal losses to world tragedies. These events often leave us doubting God, the Bible, and our faith. But instead of pushing away our reservations, we should embrace them, Peter Enns argues. A leading biblical scholar and Christian mentor, Enns has never been afraid to question the Bible or Christian beliefs. Such thoughtful inquisitiveness, he argues, is part of God’s plan. He wants us to question, because doing so actually leads to a stronger, lasting faith.

Revisado: 03-03-23
I have enjoyed Peter’s books. This one is very personal and reveals his own deconstruction and reconstruction journey. You may not agree with all his conclusions and he would be fine with that. The key point I took away from the story is allow yourself to get out of your theological box and trust God loves you more than you can imagine. I agree that if the church doesn’t morph it will become increasingly irrelevant. I say this as a former fundamentalist/ evangelical minister of 30 years. Enjoy the book and your own journey with God. He’s so much more beautiful than you think.
