Historia
Enticed by the System, native forces vied for ownership of the realm. Heroes and tyrants rose from the masses. Generations came and went, and yet when the war raged on, the System decided to add a new player to the board. Keith Walker has just come of age when he learns what it feels like to be powerless. Forced by events beyond his control, Keith comes to terms with his family's true heritage and decides that from now on, he'd control his own fate.

The MC could have easily been replaced with a side character.
Revisado: 03-20-24
Okay, so I listen to a lot of audiobooks, but haven’t done a lot of reviews on books because of my old job situation, but now I have more time to start writing reviews on books I read/listen to.
Okay so I have mixed feelings for this book. Without getting into spoilers here’s what I liked about the story so far and what I don’t like.
The world building is intriguing enough that I want to find out more about it. Some of the side characters are pretty interesting and I hope they get more time to shine, and lastly I like this author’s other series so I’m hoping that in the upcoming books they’ll pull me into the story more.
Now, my biggest gripes about this book. The MC…… and this is where I’m mixed. Personally I don’t like MC who (well let’s just say) has plot armor thicker than the paper back version of War and Peace. Now the rich young master trope can be done well and we will usually see a lot of growth and depth be added as the story progresses. That doesn’t quite happen here. There is “growth” in the MC, but it feels shallow and vague. There was one tragic event that happens to the MC and it just kinda makes you want to roll your eyes instead of feeling anything for either of the characters. It just missed the mark and he picked the wrong trope to use in that situation.
Narrator: if you listened to this narrator before then you know what to expect. He does better than some, but some of his voices might annoy you. But overall I have several books he’s narrated and he’s is consistent with his voice acting.
So to sum it up. Overall I would only give this 3.5 stars. I will get the second book if it’s released but that one will decide if I continue on with the series or not. I would recommend reading the book on Kindle Unlimited if you can before spending a precious credit.

Historia
Gary doesn’t have all that much going for him. He’s a teenage boy who lives in a Tier-3 town that’s barely hanging on, and his family’s just a rung above dirt poor. Which is why he’s taken the very dangerous step of becoming an errand boy for the savage Underdogs gang. He doesn’t like what they do, but if he tries to get out, he’s pretty sure he’ll get very dead.

Good story overall
Revisado: 05-26-23
Overall it’s a good read/listen and I would recommend it. The author could have flushed out more of the world by going into more details on some of the things in the book. And if you want heavy litrpg then this probably won’t do it for you. The “system” doesn’t really have any depth to it and it would have been the same without it, but if you like manga with kind of a high school battle theme then you’ll like the book. Is there anything groundbreaking in this book…. No, but give it a read. It was still worth getting and I plan on getting the second one when it comes out.

It feels like it picks off in a weird place and ends in a weird place, but overall it’s a very good book. And Travis Baldree reads it so he automatically adds a star or two.

Historia
Ash led a very normal life by his own standards. Right up until he was literally pulled into a portal that spat him out into another world. One that was full of martial arts. And martial artists who could use magic. Three years of living his life as one of the citizens, those without power, and Ash has figured out how to survive with his adoptive family and a lot of persistence. His goals in life have become to give back to those who gave to him. And he’d do whatever he had to to do that. Except Ash is about to get his life turned around again.

I tried to like this book.
Revisado: 10-16-22
This author failed by trying to make his MC to cool. It makes it feel cringy and in my case I started not liking the MC because of it. I started cringing every time I would hear a certain line. But if you like a book where the MC always has to have things his way and it feels like the author is living out their fantasies through their mc then you might like this book. It’s also a harem story so it follows the same lines in that aspect as most other harem stories do. Over all I found this story to be a meh. Not that great but also it’s not the worst story I’ve read in this genre. Narration by Andrea Parsneau is about what I was expecting from her. Decent job from her.

Historia
I was the Ashlord—a primordial, an apex predator amongst beasts, commanding legions. I fell, despite my power, although not due to the strength of my enemies...but the betrayal of my own kind. A voice whispered to me as I lay dying on the cold ground, promising rebirth and revenge. Accepting his offer, I fell into a timeless sleep. I awaken to the cold and crushing dark of a forgotten grave and discover that I have changed. No longer a primordial force of nature, I now inhabit the body of a once immortal cultivator, the very same one that tried to claim my core as I lay dying.

Could have been better.
Revisado: 06-07-22
This book needed a good editor. The author contradicts himself so many times throughout the book it felt like most of the time he was just writing what sounded good to him at the time he was writing that paragraph and would forget about what he had already said in the previous chapters.
Now after saying that, this story does have promise and can turn out to be a good story. So I’m hoping with the next one we will see the author grow in his story telling skills and he’ll get someone that will be able to help him keep his story straight. If he can do that then I think book 2 will be a good read. If not I will probably give up on this series.

I tried to like it.
Revisado: 05-14-22
I tried to like this book, but I just couldn’t. Most of the “funny” parts in it just came off flat and didn’t feel right. The MC is supposed to be a cultivating genius from another world but when he gets to this new world it makes no sense with how he acts most of the time. Between the writing and the narration the book comes off as childish to me. I will be returning it for a refund and maybe if you do want to give it a shot try the ebook instead of the audiobook.

Okay addition to the series but the MC does almost nothing.
Revisado: 05-11-22
I probably would have rated it a 3 star but we get to find out more about side characters back stories in this one, but our MC barely does anything which is something I don’t like in a story. Felt like they didn’t want to think about power ups for the MC this time. Hopefully the next book is better and the MC will actually have a bigger part in it.

Love the book and I can’t wait for the next one!
Revisado: 03-31-22
First let me start by saying I did receive this in a giveaway from Soundbooth and honestly it’s probably not one I would have thought to get otherwise, but man I’m glad I got this book. I have over 1200 audiobooks in my audible library so I listen and read a lot of books, so a lot of time I look at the length of a book and I hate to say it but that plays a lot into my purchases. Now that being said, this book is a little on the short side for what I usually listen too, but it was what I needed. I’ve been listening to a lot of more action pack fast paced litrpg and if that’s what you want then you won’t like this book all too much. It’s definitely more slice of life with light litrpg settings. Now with everything that went on in the book it has the foundation of having more action and and excitement later on if the author wants to take it that way. So I’m curious to see where Jon Svenson is going to take this story and can’t wait to go along for the ride. As always Soundbooth delivers in the narration. They have some talented people and I know when I get an audiobook from them I’ll have no worries about the narrator’s. I would love to write more but I’m writing this review while I’m at work so I need to keep it shorter. Need more money for more audiobooks. I swear I don’t have a problem. At least that’s what I tell my wife lols. But give this book a shot. It’s a nice relaxing listen that will make you want to know what happens next!

Half a millennium ago, in a desperate attempt to defeat the Ithonian Empire, Kanderon Crux and her allies banished the city of Imperial Ithos from Anastis. Her dread weapon, the Exile Splinter, even erased the memory of its location from the universe. Now it's returning and bringing the Exile Splinter back with it. The great powers of the continent are desperately hunting for the lost city, knowledge lost even to Kanderon herself. None know what ancient Ithonian weapons and enchantments might still be found in the ruins, but the Exile Splinter alone would be a prize to justify war.

Over all it was a good continuation of the series, I was just a little let down with how it flowed. But I’m also the type of person that doesn’t really like reading books that put focus on romantic relationships. Overall it was a good book and I will be getting the next book in the series when it comes out. Ralph Lister does a good job narrating so that was a plus.
