Historia
The enlightenment you seek in other religions has been present in Christianity from the beginning. Richard Rohr, a global leader in spiritual awakening, helps you recognize the forces (such as ego resistance and dual thinking) that separate you from your deeper self. Then, drawing from Gospels and the greatest Christian contemplatives, he shows you what it means to be spiritually awake. You will learn why your ego resists change and growth, what is useful about popular ideas such as the law of attraction, what Jesus, the first mythical leader in the West, can teach you.

Historia
In the tradition of Bertrand Russell's Why I Am Not a Christian and Sam Harris' recent best-seller, The End of Faith, Christopher Hitchens makes the ultimate case against religion. With a close and erudite reading of the major religious texts, he documents the ways in which religion is a man-made wish, a cause of dangerous sexual repression, and a distortion of our origins in the cosmos.

Empowering. Inspiring. Enlightening.
Revisado: 10-15-16
I was raised by a preacher's daughter. when I started to question my faith, I felt alone, isolated, and at times, guilty. Hitch served as a sort of secular prophet. If you are on the fence, listen to this book for perspective. If you are a devout believer, listen to this book to learn about your critics. If you have no doubt in your doubt, listen to this book for an incredible articulate of skepticism. This man will be sorely missed.

At first, The Man Who Was Thursday seems no more than a detective story that also has both poetry and politics, as well. But it soon becomes a mystery that grows more mysterious, until it is nothing less than the mystery of creation itself.

Sloppy, cop out story telling
Revisado: 03-10-16
I'll admit, this story had me hooked in the beginning. But with every piece of plot development, it got more and more predictable and painful. Sometimes it was big, "what the hell" moments, other times it was little things that ruined the suspended disbelief, like "there's no way all of this dialogue could take place in that amount of time;" which ruins any fiction. I gave the narrator 4 stars because I only just realized that I did actually finish the book.

Historia
Shocking and controversial when it was first published in 1939, Steinbeck's Pulitzer prize-winning epic The Grapes of Wrath remains his undisputed masterpiece. Set against the background of Dust Bowl Oklahoma and Californian migrant life, it tells of Tom Joad and his family, who, like thousands of others, are forced to travel west in search of the promised land. Their story is one of false hopes, thwarted desires, and broken dreams, yet out of their suffering Steinbeck created a drama that is intensely human, yet majestic in its scale and moral vision.

Wonderful story, phenomenally told...
Revisado: 10-01-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I've already recommended it to several. If not for the story, I recommend this book just for the beautiful pictures that Steinbeck paints with his words.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jim Casy is my hero. "Preaching is telling folks. I'm asking them."
What does Dylan Baker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Baker does a wonderful job giving life and personality to the characters, and his timing was spot on.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Without spoiling critical plot development, I can't mention particular moments, but there were several parts of this book that had me in tears on the road,
Any additional comments?
I certainly plan on adding more Steinbeck to my library, and as a result, I look forward to traveling for work.
