Historia
The Bodies of Others is about how we came to the harrowing civilizational crossroads at which we find ourselves—engaged in a war against vast impersonal forces with limitless power over our lives and which threaten the freedoms we have always taken for granted. In her most provocative book yet, Dr. Naomi Wolf shows how these forces—from Big Tech and Big Pharma to the CCP and our oligarchical elites—seized upon two years of COVID-19 panic in sinister new ways, to not only undermine our republic but to fundamentally reorient human relations.

Important book for our times
Revisado: 09-15-24
Very well written book, narrator is fantastic. Wolf has gotten pushback for her stance on COVID policy, but I think history will show she was in the right the entire time.

Historia
The US military began its 20-year incursion in Afghanistan, quite simply, because of the jihadist attacks on September 11, 2001, in which nearly 3,000 people were killed. There was never any doubt in official Washington about who was responsible. On the same day the attacks took place, President George W. Bush ordered his Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, to draw up plans to attack the jihad terror group al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, where the 9/11 hijackers had trained for their mission.

Excellent book, superb narration
Revisado: 07-20-23
Robert Spencer encapsulates the slow moving train wreck that was the Afghanistan War in this accessible and important book. He does a great job as always. I particularly liked the narrator.

The Memo is the riveting story of how Rich Higgins' 20-year career inside the Deep State enabled him to discern - well before anyone else - the Deep State's efforts to stop and ultimately remove the president from office. No one was more bold - or more frighteningly accurate - in anticipating the ferocity of the Deep State's assault on the constitution and President Trump.

I used to roll my eyes at references to the “deep state”. Whether we call it the Administrative State or the Deep State, there is no doubt in my mind that it’s the driving force in our government today. This book is interesting and very insightful in many respects.
The narration was superb!

Well written but BORING.
Revisado: 09-17-15
I found myself so distracted--bored--that I kept having to go back and make sure I didn't miss anything critical to the plot. I usually didn't. I've heard many people regard this as one of the best popular books written over the last decade so I was excited to finally read--listen to--it. I almost gave up on it several times because it was painful to follow.
There is no doubt that Woodrell is a very skilled writer but the plot was just a mess. Maybe that's what life is like in the Ozarks and that was his point. The portraits of the characters he paints and the dismal life that these folks lead in the Ozarks was the book's strength. I just wish there was a more accessible story arc that I didn't have to wade through the rest of the book to find.
Better than the average work of fiction but I was disappointed.
