Historia
Come to know Jesus as you have never known him before: as a revolutionary prophet with an exciting new moral vision. Top biblical scholar Marcus J. Borg, after a lifetime of work and study, presents a historically accurate Jesus unlike any we have previously seen. This Christ is a charismatic sage and healer who courageously and surprisingly confronts the societal crises of his day, a man living in the power of the spirit and dedicated to radical social change.

Some annoying mispronunciation
Revisado: 06-08-18
Narrator has odd way of saying “prayer,” “abba,” and “contemplative.” Content is revelatory, relevant, and exciting. Highly recommended.

Historia
Here is a concise, comprehensive overview of Wilber's revolutionary thought and its application in today's world. In A Theory of Everything, Wilber uses clear, nontechnical language to present complex, cutting-edge theories that integrate the realms of body, mind, soul, and spirit. He then demonstrates how these theories and models can be applied to real-world problems in areas such as politics, medicine, business, education, and the environment.

Great introduction to Wilber's thought, one gripe.
Revisado: 05-23-18
Probably the best not-too-long introduction to Wilber's thinking. One gripe I had is that the narrator consistently mispronounced one of the fundamental key words in any of Wilber's work: "integral." Rather than emphasizing the first syllable, "IN-te-gral," he repeatedly, without fail, pronounced it "in-TEG-ral." That's just wrong! It was a constant irritant as I listened.

In Love Wins, Rob Bell confronted the troubling questions that many people of faith are afraid to ask about heaven, hell, fate, and faith. Using the same inspired, inquisitive approach, he now turns to our most sacred book: the Bible. What Is the Bible? provides insights and answers that make clear why the Bible is so revered and what makes it truly inspiring and essential to our lives. Rob takes us deep into actual passages to reveal the humanity behind the Scriptures.

Great for disillusioned Christians
Revisado: 02-04-18
Fresh, new look at the Bible! Read the Bible for about 16 years, both as an evangelical Christian and a new thought metaphysical Christian. This book was a surprise and I delight.

Historia
Elaine Pagels explores the surprising history of the most controversial book of the Bible. In the waning days of the Roman Empire, militant Jews in Jerusalem had waged anall-out war against Rome’s occupation of Judea, and their defeat resulted in the desecration of the Great Temple in Jerusalem. In the aftermath of that war, John of Patmos, a Jewish prophet and follower of Jesus, wrote the Book of Revelation, prophesying God’s judgment on the pagan empire that devastated and dominated his people.

Great summary of early church history.

I was really struck by the importance of Athanasius and Constantine in the developing history of early Christianity.

Historia
In Infinite Potential, physical chemist Lothar Schäfer presents a stunning view of the universe as interconnected, nonmaterial, composed of a field of infinite potential, and conscious. With his own research as well as that of some of the most distinguished scientists of our time, Schäfer moves us from a reality of Darwinian competition to cooperation, a meaningless universe to a meaningful one, and a disconnected, isolated existence to an interconnected one.
