This was my first exposure to James Islington. I approached this title with an open mind, and it did not disappoint. I loved imagining this world he has created, and drawing parallels from this book to the system of government that I am familiar with. (My government hasn’t found out how to sap my will (yet) but they sure sap my wallet!) I have recommended this book to several people. It was so good, when it ended I immediately started it over, and I have three credits stockpiled! Thank you James! I’m eager for book ii!

Unfortunately, book two of this trilogy was so bad, I don’t even care how the trilogy ends. I suffered through this drivel and am wishing I could go back in time and save the wasted credit and wasted time.

Character development - non existent
Plot twists- I wish
Thrilling scenes- Maybe a few, but not really

Basically, this book is about online harassment. And a cartoon. I could not relate with any of the peripheral characters. The plot was meandering and the vast majority was pretty stale.

I enjoyed this book because it seemed like a fairly honest look at what it would be like growing up in Appalachia country. I enjoyed the different characters, and the authors portrayal of the strengths and weaknesses they possess. Overall, I gave it 5 stars because that’s how much I enjoyed it, but I did give the story 4 starts, only because it ended kind of abruptly.

Predictable, unsatisfying. Don’t waste a credit here. I had to listen to the last few hours on 1.5 playback speed, just so I could confirm that it would end exactly as I predicted it would.

Volume was too low, could barely hear the story at times due to the lack of volume. Returned it.

I questioned this download because I have already listened to (and loved) I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, however, this covered some new ground that was very enjoyable.

The only downside for me was the volume was inconsistent. I’d have to crank it up to hear the dialogue during one section, and then without warning my speakers would explode with voices that seemed to be shouting at me!

I downloaded this audiobook with no knowledge of the Golden State Killer. Half way through the book, I googled “Golden State Killer” and discovered to my amazement that he was captured that very day!

Michelle McNamara’s words posthumously condemn the man we now know as Mr. DeAngelo. My she Rest In Peace, and may he rot in hell.

This story really played with my emotions. At different times throughout, I loved, hated, and pitied the three main characters.

It was well done.

I would not be surprised if the author watched What Lies Beneath, and decided to put her own little spin on it. I had this book worked out in the first 30 minutes.

Also, it is so boring! You only have one perspective and it is the same thing, over and over again. "Poor me. I'm so sad." Well, I'm so done with Paris.
